I've got a few minor imperfections in my gray dash (1994 RT/10). I've read that it's painted? Is there touch up paint that will work and not look like sh*t? If not, any suggestions as to how to fix them? (I'll try and get pictures up later).

One more thing...it seems that this has been a popular question throughout the years and alot of people just paint their dash a different color, however, I'd like to keep my car as stock as possible for right now. Hopefully someone has found a solution since the question was last posted.

Thanks-

The grey fuzzy paint is not avaiable, at least not one has found it. I painted mine black, while not stock, damn it looks better, should have been this way from the factory.

I'm in the middle of an interior swap from Cognac to Black. I painted my knee bolsters and door panels black. It looks AWESOME, you would have never know it was cognac before.
I used semi gloss SEM DYE

Hey Ohio, did you take all the dash out to repaint it or leave it in the car? The stock paint is crap. Every time I shift and my finger hits the paint it flakes. Would love to paint it like yours.Procedure?

FYI, there are a couple places that sell CF dash kits. I would love one of them but the ones I've seen actually go over the stock dash and is secured with 3M tape. Not a great isea in my mind. If any one knows where I can get a replacement CF dash I would appreciate it!

Wow not to get off topic, but seems as though the Cognac is much more rare and desirable, I would think someone would have paid you to swap everything...Maybe I am wrong.

I was also under that impression and i posted several threads. I had a few guys who wanted to swap until their wives said it looked like baby puke lmao so no one wanted to swap so i got impatient because i can't stand it so swapped it out and dyed some of the panels and i'm MUCH happier with black!

No i already have all my black interior. My dash was black from the start. The only thing i needed to swap was door panels, knee bolsters, center console,seats,carpet,e-brake handle, and steering wheel.

You have to take the dash out to do this, I will send you a PM.

can someone tell me if they stripped and painted the black rings around the gauges or covered them with tape? I had my dash out this weekend and couldn't get an answer on this...

some guys did answer me, I just didn't see it:

POST LINK

also, I saw an older post that said they stripped the dash with orange Easy Off, but I can't find orange easy off anywhere...suggestions?

here's the post about Easy Off:

POST LINK

94----Ohio: what brand of paint did you use, I saw that you used a flat clear coat?

I used EZ-Off, was not orange, just the standard stuff. I to had a hard time finding it, took 3 stores.

I stripped the black, was hard not to when stripping the grey.

I just used Rust Oleum. Flat black and their flat clear. Completly stipped the dash, primed, wet sanded, paint, clear.

SOS pads with warm water works really well. Be sure that you get not only the grey paint off but the black that surrounds the bezels as well. if you do not you will have a mess when you try to repaint and the paint has a chemical reaction and bubbles up.

Literally it is less than $350 for a BRAND new Dashboard...You can Try Chuck Tator OR John B from Partsrack. That would honestly be a better alternative as it would not "look painted"...it will look BRAND new instead. Honestly a Grey Dash will be much easier to find also than black. Last i check John B had a Grey one...That's what I did...check my photos out and see how mint mine looks.

I undeerstand what you're saying, but the problem is that the stock paint is junk. Mine flakes every time some ones nail hits it(ie-opening the door, glove box, shifting 1 thru 6, etc). I would love to find some thing more durable! Thanks!

Last report from the wizard was no more black GEN I dashes were left, not sure about grey. I tried not to long after he posted that there were a handful left (was Nov of last year), but I wanted to long.... I think he also said DC has no plans to make more.

www.alsacorp.com has a tough "soft touch " paint.

It requires an oven cure though.

"...Choose between the luxurious options of Velvet, Silk or Rubber to create extraordinary new products, that feel as great as they look.

Durability: Alsa Soft Feeling Paint coating not only creates products that are soft to touch, it also improves the durability of the product surface. It is both scratch & mar resistant...."

They have lots of really wild paint! They even a chrome paint.

I hear you guys with the stock material being horrible. I replaced mine in November last year, thats when Tator had a few available. Since then it still looks perfect. I am super careful about it, it does **** to have to worry about a fingernail ruining it....I just can stand taking the change on painting it and having it look like a custom honda Civic....That would be horrible.

I to was worried, which is why I bought a used dash on Ebay and refinished it. I would not have put it in if it did not look good. Then turned around and sold my dash for the same price I bought the other one for.
