DC did the best thing possible to not leave all of us gen3 owners in the dust!
All we have to do is swap our hoods out for the new one, and viola! You own the new viper! Of course the drivetrain is different, but who cares if you’re paxtonized!
Thank God DC didn’t kill us all off with a redesigned batmobile like when GM came out with the new C5 over the C4, and killed everyone off!
We should all be pleased with knowing for 2007 that you won’t have to hear anyone bragging about the Z06 for at least a year or so, as Dodge has finally put the nail in the coffin!
The only thing that ***** is going to be my long wait until DC makes the new hood available for me to purchase!
PS. If anyone cracks up their front end on their car in the next 6 months, let me know, I’ll have a stock gen3 hood available for ya!
:D

Mike, so are you saying you like it, or you don't like it, or what? I'm not sure of your overall point.

Condense it down to an easily understood, starkly polarized dichotomy, you know, black/white, good/bad, likely/no-likey.

I love the hood! Thank God someone has finally come out with a hood that looks good. I just wish DC could have come up with something to spruce up the back end of the vert so it dosent look soo plain. All the aftermarket guys keep comming up with a wing that belongs on the fast & furious cars, and don't have a clue on how to follow the body lines of the car. I'm thinking of a wing that flows with the car, and starts at the front edge of the trunk lid. Sort of like the wings you find on a camaro SS, or trans-am.

Seeing nobody in here bought me a christmas present, I will accept everyones apologies by having all of you chip in and send me one of those new 08 hoods!
And to show I'm not greedy, I will even accept one that isn't painted! ;)

My very reliable inside sources told me they spent a total of 28 seconds considering cosmetics upgrades but then realized that was 28 seconds they could have been spending building performance.

Just think, if they wouldn't have wasted nearly half a minute thinking about wings and hoods we might have a 625hp Viper instead of that measily 600hp pussycat.

Well we will all have our glory again for at least a year, until the new supercharged vette debuts at next January's auto show.
www.digitalcorvettes.com is already pych'd about seeing the test mule driving around and hearing the S/C!

Chevy's SS Vette evidently won't bow until Jan 2008.

Viper stepped up to the plate first, and they will be at NAIAS. A "bird in the hand", as they say-

Just come to any VCA Regional Club meeting, and you will hear lots of members Vipers running around with Supercharged engines.

Corvette...you are so yesterdays news.

Better to stick to pace car sticker packages.

I think it's best we stay away from the "We're better than you... you're old news" bit. We're starting to sound like the vette owners when they got the c6z06. Don't be a sore winner, or it'll come back to bite you. ;)

Viper had to step up to the plate first because it was the one getting strangled by the vette. Only GM was smart enough to have a counter attack already in the making before Dodge could strike.

nice evolutionary upgrade to the already impressive srt/10.

The hp and the visual differences are easily within the reach of any 03 to 06 viper owner should they want a similar vehicle to the 08.

I personally find it hard to believe most owners of the 500 hp V10 srt/10 would feel the need to get more hp...but what the hell do I know.

Glad DC kicked up the model to 600hp..

Is that the most of any domestic vehicle ever?

I think so! Congrats DC!

600 should be the highest US production car HP number. What about cubic inches? What was the biggest baddest big block? What is this 8.4 liter in C.I.?

I still find it funny that according to Bluestreak the Viper was being strangled and the Viper had to step up to the plate.........hmmmm, seems like it took 13 years for the Vette to get to said plate ( 92 to 2005 pure Viper ********** ).So it took a couple of years for the Viper to get back to the undisputed top. Regardless, the war is good for all, but who really thinks that when the SS comes out the boys/girls at SRT will be sleeping? I think GM talks alot , whereas DC may whisper a bit more discreetly.

There will be surprises in the years to come.

one liter is about 60 cubes, so 8.4 L is about 505 cu in.

Only problem, Vic, is 8.3 liters is already listed as 505 cubic inches in all the brochures, booklets , etc. so , no offense, but that is likely on the light side.

Quite so! 512 cu in. I stand corrected.

DSR, thanks for the links!
