No worries and that thread was quite a bit over the top lol.. Yeah I dont know why they were ok with sending worn out pre-production cars for a test like this. Oh well, but as you said its not the past.
I liked this part of the mag test and this should make all the new owners long wait be...
Easy there!!! Most rightly called it on the pre-production cars initial subpar showing against the ZR1, both in performance and comfort. That criticism got SRT off there butts. Its still slower than the ZR1 but this result is much more palatable than that 2+ second loss. This result clearly...
Looks like it might be a Stryker red right behind the launch edition on the right. They are all under the same lighting but that cars red looks a bit different/darker than the other reds and reminds me of the show car I saw at Javits.
LOL. I wonder why the F40 of all Ferrari's? It hasnt been made in ages and actually seeing one the street is akin to hearing a politician speak the truth. Extremely rare. Its one of my all time fav F cars.
I think its pretty obvious why. They knocked it out the park with the interior design. I don't think anyone can argue that point and be taken seriously. It will be interesting to hear how the owners feel about the interior comfort. That's the only aspect of the interior Ive heard the mags...
Hope we don't have to wait a month or two before we hear the results of the retest. I'm betting different tires are being used in this test maybe even the Trofeo's. Maybe this will be the first trophy for the Trofeo's ha.
Yawn...........I love how holding SRT to the standard of their own Gen V hype is considered hating. If it wasn't for the deserved negative press SRT would have released the Viper as is. Thanks to what you call "hating" the production is delayed while they do some last minute improvements...
I remember reading somewhere that the Trofeos were not ready at the time of launch or something to that degree. So if that is true then SRT had no choice but to use what Perelli had available and I guess the best available was the Corsa's?
Interesting info guys. Emissions regs bites. Crash safety I won't argue with eventhough it adds a ton of weight. Well it does look like FI or a smaller size engine will be in the Vipers future if they are having so much trouble certifying it at 640hp NA.
Before they go that route I'd love to...
I see. Hmmmm. Well then its time to lower the weight substantially and call it a day then if its next to impossible for them to offer more power with the comparatively meager budget SRT has for R and D. As such I'm sure they don't have the money for an all new aluminum frame for the ACR model...
It doesn't have to have 700hp to be killer. But 700 sounds nice. But maybe a more practical remedy for more power in the ACR could be a freer flowing exhaust, headers and a factory tune thats specific to the ACR model. I can see that adding about 30hp or so or more and still be emissions...
One can only hope the next ACR looks similar to this.
Im hoping none of that is true but its really been a hard rumor to put to bed. The 640hp just happens to cause the "NON ACR" Viper to conform to the suposed 5.2 power to weight limit Fiat imposed? So why bother with an ACR if it wont be...
To be clear bare bones as compared to the ZR1 and other GT cars content NOT compared to other Vipers. Look at all the tech and creature comforts available in the ZR1 and GT cars of its ilk. Their mission is vastly different than that of the ACR. However the G5 GTS shares the ZR1's mission so...
You make a nice list there and the ZR1 certainly has some racer equipment but it isnt optimized for track like the ACR is. The Z06 carbon is a much better apples to apples comparo than the ZR1 as its the track focused demon from Chevy. ZR1 has a SC which is not ideal for track duty but it does...
The ACR is a lightened, bare bones winged and splittered focused for the track car with not much in the way of creature comforts, NVH considerations etc. There are no pretenses of it being remotely a GT car like the ZR1. On the other hand you have a ZR1 that is not a lightened car but full...
An ACR vs ZR1 is NOT apples to apples. The ACR is a streetlegal racer while the ZR1 is a GT car with track capability. They are not in the same category. The G5 GTS vs ZR1 is apples to apples as both are in the same category. If SRT has to wait for a racer in the ACR to beat a GT car(ZR1)...
Well that article has two interesting tidbits I could gather from the pic:
1. Michelin wont sell SRT any MPSC so we can forget about the G5 Viper taking out a C6 ZR1 anytime soon. And they speculate that Chevy had something to do with that.
2. They can easily eclipse the F12 731hp rating...
