    From what I've read, you'll be into fourth gear with stock rear, too. Power falls off a the red line in third, so you'll run better if you shift no matter which gear. Also, you WILL need better rubber than Pilot Sports when you change rears. :2tu:

    Agree, maybe even a bit less than an OKAY deal, imo. You could get an 03 SRT-10 with the same mileage for about another 5-7K. If I was getting another Gen II, I'd look for a blue/white 96/97 or an 01 creampuff with ABS in a nice color, either of which would be far, far less investment.

    I had a line on an 04 with 500 miles for around 75K. Biggest diff is the red painted brake calipers, and, hopefully, the 04's have sorted out some of the recall problems. I'd definitely look for an 04.

    Was your GTS a cream puff? (No offense intended, but they're slower). My RT like to killed me shifting into third (!) not second, losing traction and going all over the road. I put on Kumhos to tame it! The SRT I drove with stock gears felt sluggish until around 3000 RPM. Guess your mileage...

    Jayson, having driven both, I believe a Gen II with gears will stay with a stock SRT up to about 150. After that, forget it. And the SRT will definitely out-handle and out-brake the Gen II, even with braking mods.

    Quite true! However, at the current reported costs (did a search) to fix the Viper AC system, I'd rather put new R-134a in at the beginning of every summer for 15 bucks or so. :2tu: I'm not sure what the leak rate is, but if it holds the summer, I'll be happy.
