Wow! thanks for all of the interest in this top. I originally made that top for the Club Race cars that we made back in the late 90s early 2000s. Our plan (myself, Skip Thomas and Roy Sjoberg) was to build the club race cars to compete in the VRL (which we did make 10 cars) we hoped these cars...
We make our three styles of composite side pipe covers with custom resins...regular polyester resin does allow for more post curing during heat soak....yes, the recipe we use does cost more money per pound for the resin. Other things we have learned the hard way are: type of mat, part thickness...
Check out these old renderings I found of a race car we did over 10 years ago.
Here it is at the track last weekend with it's current owner...I know it isn't a coupe...but it is a coupe like roadster
Also, I think I may need to try and clear things up about a three piece version of this top...I have designed this top to work as a three piece, meaning I have taken into account what size pieces will fit in the trunk, how to attach these pieces as well as how to drain water...but it is and it...
The lowest point of the liner of this new top which is in the center of the car is about 3/4 above the stock sport cap pad and there is more room above the head/ hemet areas. I think that other roll bars will fit as well.
Just stepped out of the paint booth after applying the primer to these tops and thought I would post a picture of the bottom side...I don't think there has been one posted yet....and one more of the top on a car...BTW I know this top it is not for everyone, but I am really proud of this one...
I live 15mins north of Saugatuck...I was there last night for dinner..(wife's birthday) Great place on the river. Lots of Boats, shops, restaurants and bars. You will enjoy Wally's....kind of a biker place. Saugatuck is close to Lake Michigan and has a lot of nice roads to drive along the Lake...
Thanks for the kind words...so my Viper passion still shows?...I am very excited about this hardtop and the other new products that we will be producing for the GenI and GenII cars. Pretty cool that your car was in Holland when it was brand new and we originally prepped and transported it to...
Hi Guys...that is a nice looking piece, back in 95 when I originally made that front splitter, I was trying to accomplish a couple of things with the shape of our splitter for early Viper Days racing.
When we started running wider tires on the front, we needed a piece that would aerodynamically...
We will try to work on it this summer... maybe something by fall...price??? I'll try not to double the price...but making a top come apart adds tooling, fixture, hardware and labor costs. I have been thinking about doing this for a long time...timing needs to be right and I need to make sure...
Same Autoform quality and style. Sealing will not be an issue due to the way it clads over the sport cap...latches will be simple, strong and easy to use. Front latches will be tunable for both Gens. Plans are for the tops will be manufactured at Autoform and ship from our facility here in West...
Hey guys...it's a beautiful morning here in Holland Mi...gray clouds coming off the lake...rain and 40...it's going to get better this afternoon with the rain changing back to Lake Effect snow....can't believe you guys miss this...your loss!!! Enjoy the sun and your Vipers!
Thanks Scott, I appreciate the kind words. Reading positive comments about our workmanship and quality make this worthwhile. I know not everyone agrees with my top design, but I did my best to follow the style, profile, balance and lines of the SRT while making sure that the top works with a...
This is Steve from Autoform,we called that the Street Coupe. We did the first one for Ron Adee, which we built to compete in the One Lap of America. We then did a couple that competed in the VRL.
We did ten cars that looked like that for the street. Defiantly, it is a matter of personal...
Hi...this is Steve from Autoform, I am not going to come on here and make excuses or place blame on anyone concerning the long build times on my products... I will however take the blame for the poor communication issues...I need to work on that and will make an effort to change. We are doing...
