    sill insulation

There is huge air opening where the pipe enters the sill just as there is a huge exit where the pipe leaves the sill. No need to cut your inner fender in my opinion. Verifying that the inner insulation isn't pressed up against the cats / pipes is more important in ensuring airflow within the sill.

Flushed PS now I have a noise

I'd suggested an even safer route. Spray some water on the belt. If the belt is the root cause, the sound will dimish or stop briefly and reappear as the water evaporates. Oil/grease seems counter intuitive to me and my one experience with belt dresing was a disaster.

    Programming remote controls

See no reason why not. Especially if it's a nice sunny day, about 70 degrees! Just print these directions out and bring an alligator clip or even better a alligator clip terminated jumper wire.

    Programming remote controls

Let's make this easy: 1. Ensure the alarm system is not armed. 2. (1996 ~ 1998 GEN II) Ground pin C13 loose green wire taped to harness of EEM connector, which is under dash mounted on the left side of trans tunnel, directly above accelerator. Easy access if you remove knee bolster and...

    M1 5w-40 Turbo Diesel oil

Been using Mobil's Delvac 1 5W-40 since I met Tom many years ago. Some including Tom use dino diesel oil rather than the synthetic diesel and I trust completely that the dino is sufficient, but I sleep better using the synthetic version, which is what Delvac is. Probably the same as the Mobil...

98 GTS Stripes... Hood Scoop and Rear Plate Area ?

Though not stock, I too like the front lower lip striped. The rear license plate area wasn't striped after 1996 to: differentiate GTS year one and because it was an expensive and difficult added process.

Power Steering Pulley (here we go again)

The MATCO MST93 puller seemed to be the one most likely to succeed based on my research.

    b/w 96 vs 97 differences?

Sound arguments and I agree that in the end it'll be somwhat close, but to minimize the natural bias let's change to question to 1992 RT/10 versus 1993 RT/10. Arguably more refinements made between these 2 years than the GTS's and admittedly fewer 1992's produced providing a nice offset to the...

    Exhaust Gen 2

Airflow is your friend and this not only eliminates airflow around the pipes but also creates a corrosive steam bath everytime you wash and then drive your car. Not good.

    b/w 96 vs 97 differences?

Respectfully disagree - Clearly neither of us is unbiased but that statement defies all historic and parallel logic. Sure, a 1998 Red GTS is probably worth more than a 1997 Red GTS for the reasons you state, but a launch year muscle car with a one year only unique indentifier (stripes), the...

    1996 GTS

Save yourself a lot of paint matching trouble and use Sikkens, the retail version of the original Akzo Nobel paint ASC used back in 1996. Everything else will be a nightmare of "close but no cigar". Jon, I thought your comment was good advice.

    Purchased a ’97 B/W

I don't know what it is Steve, but there is just something about a 1996 GTS that's makes it unique. Can't quite put my finger on it though.......

    Draining coolant from block

The block plugs in my engine had a hard gray thread sealant that "snapped" when first removed, but were no problem. Unfortunately the material was also applied generously to the thermostat bleeder and after several attempts at removal decided to wait until a thermostat change to more safely...

Great job Tom! Now that you're working on your second 100K, what vehicle component do you think will be most troublesome along the way, meaning hardest to repair or find replacement of? Thanks, Ron
