As an update to the procedure I wrote up years ago, pulling the heater hose from the top of the airbox and filling from there minimizes any trapped air in the system.
Filling the system with the upper hose pulled from the thermostat housing eliminates the need to squeeze the upper radiator...
You know, I thought that and dismissed it as the door sags and therefore should have extra clearance not less..... However, since the door is sagging and I haven't gotten around to alligning yet, I tend to lift the door as I close it by pushing in and up with my hand low on the door skin. If...
While cleaning the car the other day, I noticed that on the top of the passenger stanchion was cracked on the forward / window side. Hasn't fallen off but has flexed to the point that the structure is gone and the gloss coating seems to be all that is holding it on.
Questions:
Has this...
The early 1997 GTS's also had cast wheels, just like the 1996's. You have to look behind the spokes on the rim barrel to identify whether the 1997 wheel is cast or forged. 1998 was the first full year of forged.
My solution is still working great 5 years later:

note: 1996 (& maybe 1997) GTS's need new slightly shorter side windows to fix the issue "officially" per Dodge.
Thanks Steve, couldn't agree more. Champion Chrysler Jeep Dodge on the northside of Indy again demonstrated terrific Viper hospitality:
Thanks again to Fernando, Mike, Gary, Jeff & Jason! :2tu:
Source is a little book I found at Fry's this afternoon that has a shiny "Buy Me" sticker on the cover... It worked.
AutoRef by Richard Young & Thomas Glover, Sequoia Publishing. 672 pages of aggregated content from all over. No idea their source. Published April 2005.
Wish I could print...
A while back there was a vibrant discussion on whether using anti-seize on sparkplug threads was a good thing or not and if so what the new torque setting should be. I just came across this table clarifies the required torque adjustment. Much greater decrease than I suspected. Bottom line, if...
That's funny. I posted the picture from SnakeOyl's site. Looks like a bad Photoshop job anyway.
I haven't looked at mine to see how they are installed (Dilusi mount), but I will now....
Sorry, I'm 1996 focused... Yes 1997 had an intake issue so not a bad idea to replace if you're experiencing rough idle / vacuum leak.
I used the heavy duty aluminum foil from the grocery store. I think it worked fine, but others may have better ideas. The issue is the the fiber insulation on...
My 2 cents:
1. Rear glass needs to be replaced as the hinge glue is separating. Who should I buy from? Does anyone have a trick that to fix this without replacing the entire assembly?
** I don't, but Chuck Tator might. You should give him a call as I'd guess that this could be repaired.

1996 & early 1997 GTS's came with cast wheels. Below is a 1996 wheel with the weld bead quite visable. Forged is smooth in this area.
While having a cast and forged wheel next to each other will show the forged as "shinier" and more chrome like, you will not look at the cast wheel and consider...
Speaking of GENII's only and early ones at that, the root cause of sill corrosion is the unbacked sill insulation holding moisture (rain & car wash) and steaming the inner sills at every engine start. When you open the sills of newer GENII's (Maybe Jon B or Chuck can confirm cutover year) you'll...
Thanks Tom, always enlighting.
I took Tom's advice and went diesel but I couldn't get over the psycological hurdle of a non-synthetic in my Viper and went for Mobil's Delvac 1, the "Mobil 1" for diesels at a 5W-40 weight. I do let it stay in the pan for 2 seasons and over that time it hits...
1996 GTS heat shields are not held in by rivets, they are held in with glue. The rivet issue is a GENI problem.
On the early GENII's the back side of the sill insulation is exposed fiber, the heat side is metal foil. The fiber side absorbs and holds rain / cash wash moisture and then steams...
In cars that I've had painted in the past, (70's Trans Ams) there was flex agent added to the primer and also in the paint. Not sure about "modern" paints though.
Stock 1996 GTS - Bought the Snake Oyl and hated it for the drone and the Jimmy Durante tips. Made my own with H pipe and liked the sound improvement and drone decrease versus Snake Oyl, but still more drone than stock. Bought a used Corsa 2.5" system, cut of the fugly oval tips (IMO) and...
