    Side Sill Insulation (Recap)

Thanks Jon for your feedback. Your observations on other exhaust wrapped Vipers makes it clear that wrapping isn't the answer. I have observed the same in headers that were wrapped, but wasn't aware that stainless would similarly corrode. I did a lot of work a while back in measuring temps...

    Side Sill Insulation (Recap)

RAYSIR is right, it's all about airflow and you can get airflow in the sills without cutting anything or providing a path for water and debris. GTSJBUD in my opinion you had it right up until you added the ROE insulation. That insulation will eliminate any heat carrying airflow and only...

    96 White/Blue GTS

ASC in Detroit did the painting and during a tour I was told that not only was it because of cost (labor intensive and a mistake prone process) but it was also the chosen way to differentiate 1996 GTS's from 1997. I'm sure Job knows more.....

    Paging Tator.....Spark Plug Question

Hi Chuck, Could you elaborate on why? Accept your expertice completely, but curiosity demands a bit more detail..... Thanks friend!

Need help finding a lift for my Gen 1.

For wheels free maintanance use (not car over car storage) a double scissor lift, Nussbaum for example, is 4.5 inches thick down, raises to 6'7" at full height, is the width of your Viper and shorter in length then your wheelbase. Uses Viper factory lift points and is a drive over style. 7,000...

Big Thanks to JonB at Partsrack

I ordered a set of rotors from JonB yesterday. He responded to my e-mail within 3 minutes. I then completed the order on-line and received a confirming invoice with shipping charges a minute later. Three minutes after that I received a tracking number and an estimated arrival date with one...

    Changing Spark Plug Questions

I wouldn't spray them with anything as it would coat the insulator in addition to the threads. I add a very light coat of antiseize to the plug threads to protect the aluminum threads in the head, however you should use a torque wrench to reinstall and be careful that you don't add so much...

Excuse me, is your car on fire?

I coated my cat's with a ceramic cloth called Nextel from 3M almost 2 years ago and it's held up well: http://forums.viperclub.org/showthread.php?t=590801

    Belt, hoses replacement

I changed mine this year for the first time (11 years old, 19K miles) and honestly they still seemed great. On the other hand, my son's 7 year old 300M with 91K miles has soft hoses that need to be changed asap. Chuck knows his stuff.

Viper Cooling System Pressure - Hose Replacement

The pressure cap limits the Viper cooling system pressure to 17psi, about where most newer cars are. That's a pound or two higher than some older cars. Finding a pre-formed hose close enough to work in a Viper application seems like a lot of work for little benefit, especially given the risk...

    Oil pan "seepage"?

$1,200! I upgraded to a 2000 Oil Pan years ago for the added capacity and it didn't cost that much. Less that half that as I remember.

    Undersealing car

Did you protect in inside of the frame tubes or just the outside? I'd suspect that any corrosion would start there (inside) as that's where the moisture and salt would be trapped. Corrosion on the outside of the frame would be easy enough to observe and touch up on an as needed basis. Good luck

    Best oil & filter?

Hi Steve, Yes, you read me right, tongue in cheek. Certainly though there is an element of truth regarding the savings of not using something more expensive than Mobil One, using that as the base given that it's the factory fill. I'm not anti-Amsoil as I'm not knowledgable enough on the...

    Best oil & filter?

Over the life of your engine, you could probably pay for a rebuild with what you save on Mobil 1 versus Amsoil. Not to speak for Tom, but if you search his name you'll see that he uses non-synthetic diesel oil for the added additives diesel oils have. I follow his advice, but spend the extra...

    Attention: 1996 GTS Owners

Yes, Big Med is right, I do all the work on my 1996 myself, not that it needs much other than normal maintanence. When I have a need for warranty work on any of my DCX products (4), or if it's something I don't want to deal with myself, I go to Champion Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep over on 96th and...
