Lowest mileage/vin# for a 1996 GTS. Are you out there??

VIN order doesn't reflect the build order anyway. You need the born on date.

    Transmission fluid change

Some have argued that Dexron / ATF+4's thinner viscosity allows any wear particles to drop to the bottom of the case and out of harms way quicker than thicker gear oil would. I know in the muscle car days, Chrysler manuals, which used ATF as the factory fill, lasted a lot longer than T-10's or...

    Blending GTS blue?

AkzoNobel was the original paint manufacturer and Sikkens is the retail brand of the same paint. I had my side sills redone with two other brands of GTS Blue and they weren't even close. Convinced body shop to use Sikkens on the 3rd try and it was dead on.

Window Stanchion seal can you replace seal or have to replace entirely?

On EllowViper's behalf: "Well, there are several options. Most have been discussed on the VCA. When I had mine all apart, I figured it was a lost cause trying to reattach the strip with adhesive (been there and failed) and I figured I couldn't screw it up any worst that it was if I...

Problems programming remotes on 98 Chrylser GTS

My guess is that you've found your problem. I've used 2002 FOB's on my 1996 GTS with no problems so you must have a non-US frequency on your EEM.

Problems programming remotes on 98 Chrylser GTS

That's odd. My '96 EEM is 315 mHz and the original FOB's were tested to confirm that was their transmit frequency - I now use later year Viper FOB's that work perfectly too so I assume they are also 315 mHz. Perhaps there is an issue there.

Smooth - I wouldn't mind finding one either if there are any floating around for a reasonable price.

    Pennzoil Ultra Euro 5- 40

Just to throw another variable into the mix (fuel on the fire), is the Mobil One 10w-30 formula from 1992 the same as the Mobil One formula today? No. Was Mobil One the recommended and factory fill oil because it was the best available at the time? Probably. Was it also because it was a part of...

    Pennzoil Ultra Euro 5- 40

Like Dom, I also use Shell Rotella T6, 5W-40 diesel synthetic in all my cars, including the Viper. Had used Delvac 1, the Mobil 1 diesel equivalent but found the Shell oil to be available virtually everywhere, slightly less expensive and the same great oil test results (UOA) as when I used...

    Best radiator hoses, GEN II

Filling the system from the heater core hose with the upper radiator hose off until coolant flows out, then connecting the upper hose and continuing until it won't take anymore, seems to be the most efficient way to fill the system with the least amount of trapped air. As I remember, it's how...

Is anyone running the ACR oil filter adapter on a Gen 2.

Great reply Chris, thank you. Troublemaker, I just received a standard oil adapter from Ryan and as you know also bought the ACR one from him also. The only difference of course is that the standard adapter has the low pressure valve that opens a cooler bypass path. At some point I'm going...

Is anyone running the ACR oil filter adapter on a Gen 2.

It's an 11~17 year old low production specialty car assembled from a mix of repurposed and unique parts built by vendors that in many cases didn't see enough volume to justify producing the part in the first place, let alone again. The fact that Dodge has stock of anything at this point is a...

    Here's a switch - I'm looking for a "non-ACR" Oil Filter Adapter

I'm determined to understand the value of the ACR oil filter adapter in comparison to the stock adapter and need a GENII non-ACR / normal oil filter adapter to test. If you upgraded to the ACR adapter and wouldn't mind parting with your old adapter for a reasonable cost, please let me know...

Is anyone running the ACR oil filter adapter on a Gen 2.

Thank you Ryan for opening up a non-ACR version. I wouldn't have figured that one out. Much appreciated!!!

Is anyone running the ACR oil filter adapter on a Gen 2.

The pictures above and the one shown in the Cone guide are not the ACR adapter. I just checked my stock 1996 GTS and unless I got a special pre-production ACR adapter (not likely), 04763735C is stock pressure valved oil filter adapter as verified by the part number. The image without the valve...

Is anyone running the ACR oil filter adapter on a Gen 2.

Alright, there is something I just don't get - If I am right in my flow path assumptions (and I might not be), how does the valve in the non-ACR adapter work? If the from the allen cap, the plunger goes first in then the spring, it would be excess pressure that bypasses the cooler, not low...

Oil leak, 96 GTS, porous block, pan, gasket, how do I know which one?

I second Steve 100% - From the highest likelyhood to the least, I'd suggest timing cover as virtually all 96's had that issue, to oil pan gasket, to rear main seal, to rear cam plug, an issue I also had fixed. The easist way to diagnose is to clean everything as well as possible and add the...

Looking gen 2 exhaust manifold heat shield

Not that I can help, but for your original 1996 manifolds or 1998 & up SS Shorties? They are different and many 1996 & 1997 owners have upgraded (or downgraded depending on your perspective) to the lighter 1998+

Best fuel filter replacement now that OEM is discontinued?

Unless there is fuel starvation, why change it? If the fuel is clean from the station (it runs through a filter at the filling station pump) it really shouldn't load up. In the old Quadrajet days, I get it. That filter was a thimble, but ours has a significant filter area. Just a thought

Ken - I'll take a measure later tonight but you put a "J" hook, whose opposite end is connected to a strap, through the hole.

    tow hooks?

Exactly, you'll need 4. At $5.99 each they are one of the least expensive Viper accessories.
