1992-2002 Dodge ViperSide Sill Vents...are they worth the $$?

Bird - I don't know about anyone else, but for me it's a souce of entertainment. The money spent or saved is irrelevant.

1992-2002 Dodge ViperSide Sill Vents...are they worth the $$?

Drumrboy - absolutely correct, I'm thinking of the fender vents. Dave's under sills holes absolutely would fix the idle / post shutdown heat. Thanks for pointing that out.

1992-2002 Dodge ViperSide Sill Vents...are they worth the $$?

Jon - to be clear, I agree completely on not wrapping directly, however mine has airflow underneath and outside the wrap. I also verified with 2 cat manufacturers the internal temp when cat degradation begins (don't remember now) and in my installation I never get close. Airflow is our friend!

1992-2002 Dodge ViperSide Sill Vents...are they worth the $$?

Vancouver - yes, max observed temps were post shutdown, so a Sean Roe fan runtime extender would be helpful with my airflow tubes, but I've moved on... Dave you're right about cockpit temps. In one of my pictures you can see the ceramic coated floor heat shields. There I coated a set...

1992-2002 Dodge ViperSide Sill Vents...are they worth the $$?

Dave, no argument from me on more holes = more airflow, whatever the variety. For me though the pain of cutting my car and therefore eliminating the option to ever return to stock combined with the added moisture entry points, encouraged me find other ways to reduce the heat without changing to...

1992-2002 Dodge ViperSide Sill Vents...are they worth the $$?

There are significant openings where the exhaust enters the sill and a significant openings where the exhaust exits the sill. Without question there is a pressure differential between both openings therefore as long as you allow airflow around the cat, (by ensuring any insulation does not...

    Clutch Master or Slave?

2easy - Nope, trans shifts like a dream. Mine came with Dexron from the factory but I switched to Syntorq (meaning the later Mopar synthetic factory fill) when the car had about 5k miles. Recently switched back to ATF, this time Chrysler ATF+4 and it shifts better than ever. I can clearly feel...

    Clutch Master or Slave?

Thanks guys - Clutch / flywheel / pressure plate was replaced at about 12,000 miles due to an oil leak out of the cam plug, so the current clutch has less than 15,000 miles on it, though the throwout bearing and slave cylinder is original 1996 vintage. Not abused so while anything is possible...

    Clutch Master or Slave?

1996 GTS - Clutch engages very low sometimes after the car sits for a while. Stays that way for 5 or so shifts then returns to normal. Pumping the clutch doesn't seem to help, instead actual engagements are required for it to return to normal. Daily use maintains normalcy for the most part...

Anyone have a superfluous working GENII Alpine?

Looking for an economical way to keep the tunes going as mine is starting to act up. Checked classified to no avail. Thanks

    2002 GTS Cruise Control

The wiring diagram wasn't correct for a 1996 GTS but working with Cory got it going. Also, the unit needs to "learn" that a clutch depression means disconnect. After testing it a few times it really did learn it. Been installed for 8 years and still works great.

Might anyone have an extra Limited Slip tag?

Pinion bearing toasted - Anyone have an extra Limited Slip tag? During a repair, the limited slip tag cracked. 10 degree temps probably contributed. Anyway, not a part numbered item so am looking for someone that might have a extra that they are willing to sell me. As to why the diff was...

    Stripes on B/W GTS

Per ASC, the GENII paint shop, I was told that the paint ridge was by design and spec'd dimensionally. The application process was: "Body panels are completely painted with the base color and cleared, the stripe* is then applied and the paint lightly scuffed (not to primer). The stripe...

It's been a long time since I wrote those instructions, but after re-reading it I'd suggest leaving the green wire grounded throughout the process.

    Alarm and central locking problem

The EEM (electronic entry module) is above the accelerator & left of your radio held in by a bungy type strap. The "switch" is in the top of your "between the seats" console compartment.

97 Blue and White GTS Values

Nope - Jon B has the first consumer GTS and I never heard of his engine blowing up. I have a late 1996 GTS and I don't have a GTSR block nor has my engine ever blown up. The GTSR block isn't provisioned for attachment of the A/C compressor and is not a "drop in" replacement for the stock Viper...
