Yes, at least 50-100 of them will sell at that price! Too many other cars available at that price (new and used). The Viper is a (magnificient) toy, but a toy none the less. $135k (even for the ACR) will chase many buyers away--even those who can afford it.
Thanks Shooter!
The figure on the Coupe is really quite amazing--60% of the downforce of the ACR. This has not been my observation at HPDE events. The ACR appears to have "night and day" different road-holding ability from the Coupe--for instance on high-speed banked oval turns and...
Don't want a carbon fiber frame: cost to repair, etc. would be astronomical. Maybe aluminium? Carbon fiber bits elsewhere would be fine.
Anything over $100k should have 700hp +, and given the hp/trq of competitors, the price should still not exceed $100k by much for an ACR. Now, if...
Couple points:
1. The Gen V should have been introduced at Detroit, where the home and heart of the Viper are located. This cloak and dagger stuff is getting a bit old... .
2. The ACR produces downforce at speed. I believe the coupe has "reduced lift" and not downforce. If someone has...
No chance that will be the price.
If it is, the car becomes a diseconomic proposition. Used Gallardos (even with supercharging or twin turbos), used Ferraris, Ford GTs and others become the competition. The next ZRI Vette will then undercut the Viper by $10-15k for comparable performance...
I agree: to be fair, let's have the next VOI in Maine or Canada! After those 5 owners have a great time, then the next VOI can be in a different area where more owners can attend!
No corrosion on the HRE P40 Monoblocks--solid aluminum.
The axle hub was a bit rusted, as were some other bolts, etc. While it may not be optimal, I used WD 40 on all affected parts, and then sprayed on silicone to help keep things lubricated. I did not have any grease, etc. When I...
A Stock Gen IV Viper is faster than a C6Z with headers, intake and tune; I owned both cars. Viper also handles better. I like Vettes, but not as much as my current Viper.
I thought I would check with the experts!
My '08 has 2 sets of wheels and tires and I am swapping now to break in some other tires. Using just a racing jack I am going one corner at a time. I started on the Driver's front and once I had removed all lugs with the wheel slightly lifted off...
On my '08 coupe, stock sounded like a vacuum machine or something. I tried high-flow metal cats and corsas and it was a disaster! Like no exhaust at all. The police followed me immediately.
Then I switched to corsas and stock cats and it was a 100% better than stock with no drone. NOTE...
My GTS Blue Coupe has the gray/black interior. I added the carbon fiber look console/dash piece from JonB and it actually looks great. I would not mind softer door elbow areas and some nicer materials, but it really is not bad for this type of serious sports car.
+1, except to spray it with a hose.
WOW, here I thought I was doing a good job washing and waxing and now I seek how much more thorough some are! I never pull the wheels for a wash, although I use a long brush to get the barrels clean. Excellent advice on this thread.
Sorry for any negative experience you may have encountered.
I am in Newport Beach (work) and Huntington Beach (home) near the SoCal coast all the time. You would be hard-pressed to find an area with more Ferraris, Lambos, Veyrons, Audi R8s, FGTs and anything else you can think of. That...
