I posted on this some time ago. The claims on the aftermarket headers are not consistent with the Dodge numbers--i.e., the aftermarket header claims are overstated.
This may be a case of factory hp vs. aftermarket hp.
FWIW, My buddy is a serious gentleman racer and has won various series many times. He has 2 FGTs and has run many times on a track with FGTs. He says FGTs heat-soak BADLY! NOT a Track car--even weekends. (He races a specially prepared Mitsubishi and also has a GT3, 2 Oreca Vipers that raced...
Not my experience. The invos I run (19/20) are quieter than the PS2s and just as grippy. That said, I have not done any skid pad exercises to measure lateral Gs, etc. I also will run the PS2s in 18/19 for the ocassional HPDE.
Basically, the Viper won.
An easy 5th gear swap and the Viper is right there from 160 mph up.
On most of our US roadracing tracks we just do not use 5th gear very much with stock gear ratios--typically for a few seconds at the end of a straight before going to 3rd or 2nd for the corner...
On my '08 I just added the MGW (sp?)shorter shift knob and it has been great. It is an easy mod (I had it added before the was even delivered)and it works great. In addition, my transmission linkage has always been fine and feels stout.
I am looking for a set of new OEM Michellin Pilot Sport 2 (non-run flat) for my 2008 Coupe. If anyone knows of any current good discounts, please let me know!
(I have already checked all of the usual places).
Thanks!
This is a "Forum" and everyone is entitled to their opinions!
The tough economy and very deep dealer discounts make selling even a brand new Viper difficult.
Your car looks great, and good luck with your sale.
Happy 4th to all! :usa:
No, you cannot see anything. So nothing to photograph.
I do not know anything about any condensor tube, etc. On my 2008 Coupe you could just slap your hand on the dash near the center defroster grill and hear a rattle. The padding stopped this issue.
My dealer did the fix and was...
I need to replace the front Viper emblem/badge on my Gen IV and was hoping someone could tell me how far down from the top edge of the front fascia (where it meets front edge of the hood) the top of the badge starts? Knowing this will make it much easier to stick the new badge in the correct...
Thanks again for the information!
Good point about the different pistons, etc. camfab, but I doubt that this explains the different power gains with headers between the actual ACR-X SAE numbers and the informal claims on various dynojet dynoes relating to modification of stock Gen IV car...
TrackAire:
Thanks for the interesting feedback. I have followed your other posts as well and they are always informative.
My point is quite simply that the gains claimed on the various dynos appear to be overstated based on the smaller SAE-certified gains of the ACR-X which has no CATS...
After reviewing the various VCA and other threads and other information on Gen IV Headers and High-Flow Cats, I am just a bit curious about the claimed gains.
The new ACR-X provides a good example. Dodge states that the ACR-X has 640 crank hp/585 crank trq. on 91 octane and 640 crank hp/605...
AHHHHHHHHHHHHGGG!!!!####@@@
Just hit a cube of something in the road--it was dusk, 30 mph, road colored cube of something someone left in the middle of a lane.
The lower level of the front facia is cracked pretty good in the middle and underneath. No other damage is apparent.
So it...
Just FYI, Nitto of course disputes the test and your characterization of the performance of their Invos. I called Nitto the other day to ask them to compare their Invos to the non-runflat PS2s. Nitto (biased of course) stated that the Invo was at least as good as a dry, ultra performance tire...
