+1 on the Windows!
My passenger side window just shattered while the car was parked and the windows we each open about 1 inch.
My car is 2008 and I have an extended warranty so I will be speaking with the dealer tomorrow... .
Glad it was parked!
+1 Zillion!
Great that the Viper continues.....BUT.....
Viper needs to be the OEM competition crusher at a value! That is its niche. Let's hope the ACR gets back to the roots.
I too am underwhelmed by the Gen V on all fronts; the yellow looks worse than the Red. If I was a Gen II owner, the Gen V might be tempting as a trade up.
As a Gen IV owner, the marginal performance increase (most of which can be made to my Gen IV--e.g. ported intake, low-restriction...
Thanks Bill for the sage advice. You are certainly entitled to your opinion on what you want to do with your money and what you think the Gen V is or should be; our opinions just differ. Not wrong, just different. Again, I am glad that the Viper lives on--this is a good thing all around. It...
Well, great job to SRT for building the Gen V--it allows the proud Viper to continue!
Gen II owners are no doubt quite pleased since the Gen V looks like a modern Gen II.
That said, the new Gen V is, so far, just a mild "refresh" on the existing Gen IV; marginally better in most every...
Not exactly is my guess. The new car includes the "aftermarket" tweaks of: intake manifold porting and polishing; intake; and exhaust. In otherwords, they already took the "cheap" (viper tax) improvements off the table. Now it does have forged pistions so you may be able to void the warranty...
Looks like Gen II mated with a Mazda Miata and an old Mazda RX-7.
Overall, nice design, but I was hoping for more Volado and 700hp.
It would be nice to have some actual body-integrated downforce as well without a wing (vs. reduced lift).
In any event, it is EXCELLENT that Dodge-SRT...
Hmmm...need to see actual photos and see the specs. If I was a Gen II owner I would definitely be excited to upgrade to this design. Tomorrow is almost here!
Well, then I will just buy your 2014 when you are done with it!
Seriously, I am thrilled SRT is making the Gen V. I am hoping it looks more like the Volado concept and has 700hp OEM.
I am not sure 60hp more and a more cuddly interior would make me trade my '08 Gen IV for that car. I will wait for a 700hp+ (OEM) ACR for under $115k. At some point in the power game, all-wheel drive should also be considered--there are obvious road and track benefits.
Well, of course the Mustang is different from a Viper, but I would say this (sportscar for $55k with 650 OEM hp) is still very relevant. If the Mustang loses some weight and adds a fully-independent rear suspension (both planned for the next gen), then the game will change even more.
Both...
State Farm here, multi-everything discounts.
As noted above: single; 28; only car insured; daily driver; sportscar; Miami, FL = cha ching! I am used to SoCal. rates and I thought your rate looked pretty good.
Re: Gen IV OEM Razor Wheels, Center Caps, Sensors and New Michelin Pilot Sports For S
This is actually why I saved my OEM wheels and why I put new rubber on them ($1,700)! However, I have had exactly part of one HPDE day using the wheels! I have just been too busy and would prefer to have...
Re: Gen IV OEM Razor Wheels, Center Caps, Sensors and New Michelin Pilot Sports For S
SSSSE YA: Thanks for the catch! You are correct, the Michelins are Pilot Sports and are not "Cups."
458 Italia is much hotter looking than the F12. There also appears to be some generous body roll on cornering but it may just the opposite lock drifting.
In addition, it is interesting how many sports cars end up with the same shape--especially in siloutte. It must be aerodynamics.
If anyone is interested, I have a Set of Gen IV OEM Razor Wheels, Center Caps, Sensors and New Michelin Pilot Cup Sport Tires for Sale. The Wheels are in excellent condition with no curb rash, etc. The Tires were used for three 20-minute HPDE sessons and about 100-200 miles on the street. I...
Hmmm.. very interesting!
Those are very large ducts! Swoopy but is it realistic for real-world ? Must be if it is in the design. Things are getting interesting....
For stock Gen IV cars on 91 gas, I doubt tuning would be worth the cost or expense. Now, forced-induction cars or other applications, that is a different matter.
My wheels have fresh tires, center caps and sensors and are unmarked. We are probably at different price points. My set would be more like $3,500 plus shipping. Tires alone are $1,700 or so.
Maybe when and if I ever use the tires up things will change.
I have a set of flawless Gen IV Razor wheels with New PSIIs (used for 1 HPDE day--3 20 minute sessions) on them and TPMs that are available. I have HREs and am just too lazy to change the wheels when I go to play! So for the right price these will be available. Otherwise, I will just keep them!
