Life is short, paying a little extra for a no stories car is worth it. Just look at some of the nightmares others have been stuck with on car that have washed titles, been in wrecks, electrical issues, etc. Knowing the previous owner and the actual condition of the car makes it more desirable to...
Congrats and enjoy. A stock Gen 4 will not have any problem getting onto a two post lift.
I'm looking to get a Ford, but a replica GT-40. I've always liked the original style and the light weight platform.
Cheers,
George
Unfortunately already have one. Apparently the 2009's had a little better improvement over the 2008's but I really didn't notice enough difference with the Mopar PCM to justify the cost based on the crappy throttle feel. My car revs like a banshee once the inch or so of dead throttle pedal...
$25k is not a bad price considering it includes the install, Pectel and tuning. Two questions I have as I looked on your product list for the Gen 4.
1. Does the Pectel interface with all the other sensors on the car, like seat belt and seat sensors, air bags, antilock brakes, etc? I saw you...
I do think that what you are using the car for does matter. If the Viper is your daily driver or/and you do a lot of constant freeway miles, then mileage matters, not so much from the cost aspect as not having to fill up every 250 miles and the inconvenience that comes with that.
I've been...
That is very similar to what I have, but I started with one of the VPA 6060's that were used for prototypes, etc. I wanted to keep the stock trans on the shelf if I ever want to put the car back to stock.
I love the close ratio feel (lower 5th & 6th gear) with the 3.55's. IIRC, I'm turning 2000...
Pretty important to list the individual transmission ratios too as those effect launch (especially 1st gear ratio) and the rest of the acceleration curve regardless of the rear ratio. 3.31 might be fast on supercharged cars, but FGT owners who upgraded to a lower 3.90 aftermarket ring and...
And for spec racers or guys that autocross in the "stock" classes there is a saying "I paid a lot of money to make that car stock!!"
The stock classes were some of the worst offenders because it really mattered who you knew in regards to getting enough parts to go through and find the...
You're right about other forums going to hell too....the problem is everything is getting too diluted. Too easy to leave here and go to forum X, Y, Z, etc. There is no loyalty, there is no vested interest to make this forum (or is it club?) better for the long term.
Personally I'd love to...
Having the alignment slightly off should not happen, but many would not realize it (especially those at the factory driving the car from one location to the other at slow speeds).
But there is no excuse for not noticing that the wheel is off center. That is worrisome since it is just common...
Do you think it's possible to swap a Gen 5 motor into a Gen 4 Viper and vice a versa in one weekend?.....:smirk:
Enterprise Rental car has an exotic car division that I've used in the past and they had some high hp cars available but all with paddle shifters.....didn't seem to be too much...
That is the best damn story yet, congrats and enjoy the car. I had to fly out of state to get my car back in 2009 and amazingly, once the phrase "wire transfer account number please?" was said, the deal was done in 30 minutes.
Cheers,
George
A couple of thoughts here, maybe some attorney types know the answers.
I do not believe that Snake-Oyl is claiming that this bracket will stop the breakage from happening, but that it "might" keep the rear together long enough to get the car safely stopped or back to the pits. If they are...
Interesting find.....amazing that this patent is 10 years old and that GM appears to own it. DCT with a torque converter, might be the best of both worlds. Nice find.
Cheers,
George
You've listed a lot of points and opinions, here are some that I've found from personal experience and facts.
I'm not sure where people get the rough ride aspect of a Gen 4, but when my Gen 4 had the stock suspension, I and my wife found the ride to be very comfortable. Maybe my car rode...
I'm not sure the Viper has to have a DCT to be successful versus a non DCT auto. I've driven a couple of cars this year that had paddle shifters with a "traditional" torque converter type automatic and I think they would work well in a Viper. A lot of how a traditional automatic behaves when...
Actually, Luca was left speechless when he was told that a car of this performance potential could not be modified due to a locked computer. Apparently his prayers to Saint Schumacher (the patron saint of Ferrari high performance) have paid off
Cheers,
George
I'm not sure how people here are actually seeing a clear cut winner in this comparison :dunno:
How do you win this comparison?....best driving car, best fit and finish, fastest quarter mile, fastest lap time? What exactly are you comparing when one car costs nearly 3 times the other?
The...
