Here is what my PC'er told me.
-For alloy rims they use a low temp powder and bake at 310 degrees.
-They never "burn off" an alloy rim
-You can "burn off" the coatings on steel rims, but they use a stainless steel fixture to keep the wheel flat (burn off is at 575 degrees and can...
Double check how your PC'er is prepping the wheel. If the wheel has paint, clear coat or was previously powdercoated, some shops actually burn off the coatings with very high temps in the oven to get the surface ready for further prepping (like media blasting). That's where you might get some...
Interesting theory....I competed at Ford GT standing mile race where there were mulitple GTs, Lambo, Vettes and a couple of other exotics. During tech, the car that had the largest crowd of other owners around it was my Viper, and with many favorable comments.
At an open track event in...
emericr,
As long as the track is dry, the numbers would be fair if the tests were within 5 degrees F of each other, does not have to be on the same day IMO. The key is not to find which car is the fastest amongst the competition, but which car can complete the 10 laps with the least drama and...
From my experience, tires on high performance cars (like our PS2's) would have no problem doing 10 laps. Would they get greasy, hot, etc...yes, but they would not get worn out in 10 laps and cord. This would be part of the equation,....what lasts, what fails, etc. Nascar drivers can over drive...
I enjoy seeing comparison tests, lap times, 1/4 mile times, etc just as much as the next guy. Although these results give us an idea of the cars performance potential, what I really care most about is on track performance....how the car can handle a roadcourse. Drag strip times and top speed are...
I too am amazed at the distance the 9500ix picks up Ka band.....I'm talking miles of warning in some cases. I remember when radar detectors first started including Ka band and many struggled to get a reading at 1500 feet. On the highway, this is the only radar band I'm concerned with and the...
Funny you mentioned using the wishbones as tie down points....looks like the tow truck operator is to blame for bending this rear suspension piece if you look at the first photo of the car on the flatbed :smirk:
What I don't understand is the car was going about 80 mph in the rain??.....looks...
Dodge also has the ACR supplement guide for the 2008 car online.
Just google "viper acr owners manual" and you can download the ACR guide for setting up the suspension, etc. Don't know if this is what your asking for, but since it's free, what the heck.
Cheers,
George
At the 2010 SEMA show, one of the learning seminars a buddy of mine went to was on stability controlled vehicles and the effects of different sized tires, lift kits and lowering kits. Some of the new vehicles coming out were supposed to be very sensitive to these changes. I haven't heard of any...
Mark,
When gravity bleeding, do you do one caliper at a time or can you do multiples? If doing a single caliper at a time, do you start with the furthest one from the master cylinder?
I'm more concerned with getting fresh brake fluid in the system after track day events, etc. and looking...
If you're not going to do major mods, go with a Gen 4. If you really like to tinker and mod the car, go with an 2006.
Here is what I have found in my experince:
The Gen 4 has more HP, but less torque down low than a Gen 3. It needs to rev and above 5k rpm, watch out it is a blast. A...
Damn, there you go!! You could put that car in any major city in Italy, Germany or the UK and it would make other supercars hard to notice if parked next them. The GTS looks great whether parked or moving. Some cars only look good from certain angles....not so with the GTS.
Nice car!!
Cheers...
Again, that is not a real car so it really is hard to compare it to cars on the road....to me that looks computer generated or "adjusted" via photoshop. They use every trick in the book to highlight the angles, curves, etc. Do I personally think the car looks good in that photo, yes. Do I think...
Maybe you can tell that the new Gen 5 has an older "shape" to it, but this is not a bad thing if the shape is correct, beautiful and will still look good 50 years later. When I look at "old" photos of Grace Kelly or Raquel Welch in their prime, I'm ok with that look and it would be stunning even...
Wow, nice work. I need to make some time and get by your shop to check these out.
Looks like the perfect set up for anybody with a Comp Coupe and a Gen 4 motor upgrade.
Keep the cool stuff coming,
George
Go with the Gen 2, nothing looks as classic as a slightly lowered GTS with a little larger tire and wheel combo. I'm a no stripes type of guy, and a solid color would look clean (especially all black or all white with aftermarket rims to compliment).
This way you can beat on it a little, park...
Well, look at it this way....shade in the summer, warmth in the winter ;)
Always look at the upside, congrats on your nuptials! :omg:
You guys are too funny.
Cheers,
George
I thought the same thing...but seeing the feedback from the driver at Laguna Seca, not sure I'd invest the money yet until I see a little more proof. The quote that the Viper "oversteers more and understeers more" than the ZR1 does not instill confidence to me. I thought that was what the new...
