Road & Track Article Z/28 vs.the World (Including Viper TA)

Off topic a bit, but do you have any opinions on this track and it's club type organization? Last time I was in Indian Wells a real estate agent was telling us about it. It sounds like a mini version of Spring Mountain. I'm going back down to the Indian Wells area next month and may go check it...

what weight oil is everyone running?

Congrats and welcome back!! Would you be bringing it up to the Norcal event at Thunderhill this coming weekend? Regarding oil, for the street 0-40....for the track running hard 15-50. I like the Motul stuff for the track...on the street, any name brand oil that meets the specs will work...

Brake shudder caused by pad deposits on TA front rotors

The shop near me uses 3M Roloc 2" Coarse abrasion pads to clean up minor buildup on rotors. It is small enough in diameter that you can often clean both sides of the rotor with the it still on the car. Google the name for an image or to get an idea of how they look/work.

    Hellcat versus Viper transmission

The reality is the Rossion is a very cool car, very fast and because of its low weight, it is very, very track capable. Just because you own the "street" version does not mean it cannot be used on the track and enjoyed it there. I understand if you do not track your cars, but the laws of physics...

    Hellcat versus Viper transmission

Peter, It has nothing to do with being able to flap the paddles faster than the full auto mode, it's about control. Just like you have control with the stick shift in your Rossion, imagine having more control, quicker, faster, more precisely and with a couple of extra ratios to pick for the...

    Hellcat versus Viper transmission

The 0-60 and 1/4 mile times are very dependent on vehicle traction, weight, tire type, suspension design and vehicle center of gravity for the weight shift to the rear (only talking about rear wheel drive cars in this situation). The part that nobody seems to get is the Gen 4/5 Vipers are not...

Interesting Article on Dodge CEO Tim Kuniskis

No Dodge CEO will want to have his legacy go down as the man who personally killed off the Viper. They may discontinue the Viper, but they will blame some bean counter in Italy as the fall guy.

    Hellcat versus Viper transmission

Paddleshift sequential transmission.....that would be epic in a Viper. I have obviously not driven one but I think the clutch is only for take off. How fun would that be on the track??

    Hellcat versus Viper transmission

I love Peters blog on the C7.....honestly, I don't know where you find the time. You know the guys at GM start their morning coffee off by looking at it, discussing it, laughing at some points, concern about others and trying to figure out what the did to piss off of this Peter guy. A quick...

    Chris Marshall Alley Post

Dan, Understood what you say above, but I gotta ask....why does he not post here? Also, if he is still a member of the VCA, did he not sign the agreement that he could be kicked out of the club and or forum if he posts things even on other websites that are not in agreement with the VCA...

    Hellcat versus Viper transmission

Peter, I don't think it has anything to do with handicapped people, older buyers, etc......technically, the DCT "should" make the Viper faster on both the drag strip and road course. What is the biggest appeal of a performance car?.....to have the most performance. That is what sells cars...

    Hellcat versus Viper transmission

The biggest problem with an quick shifting auto would be the rest of the cars system could not sustain the added performance on a road course (this is assuming the "auto" trans would not overheat during track type events). One thing everybody forgets about is that the road course is a drag...

Looking for a real test drive within a few Hrs of NYC. Swap with my Porsche?

Don't waste your time with a dealer, in the SF Bay area there is a company that rents the Gen 5. Use your frequent flyer points, get your butt out here and enjoy the car for a 24 hour period.....that is the only way to know if you really want to go in this direction. There may be other...

Has anyone else ordered the BC coilovers from Will at RSI in the past 6 months?

You forgot about Econ 101.5......Order the product from the manufacturer, sell it for $7.00, deliver it to the customer but never pay the manufacturer. Number one reason a lot of vendors claim "they are out of stock" or "we are waiting on the manufacturer to deliver". Fact is, the manufacturer...

Done with car shopping-no Gen 5 after all, crossing to the dark side instead

You may have to drop by Vacaville and show it off.....I'm thinking a Rossion would be a great track car due to its very light weight. Congrats and post up some pics.

Done with car shopping-no Gen 5 after all, crossing to the dark side instead

I'll bet a steak dinner it is not a C7 Vette....lol. Either a Porsche or Jaguar F type.....I would have went with the Rossion :headbang::headbang:

Picked up a different kind of beast...

Congrats on your new beast!! Nice write up. A member of this forum recently bought a brand new GT-R. Before he made his final decision he was invited to test drive the McLaren MP4-12C (or whatever they are called this quarter) at Sonoma Raceway and left very disappointed. He is a very fast...

Wow, srt homecoming open to all past and present owners, not exclusive

"And there is no "America" anywhere to be found in the acronym VOA. Hmmm..." Seeing as there are Viper owners in Canada, Japan, Europe, etc....I can see the need for a global club name. Kind of makes sense.

    SRT

In a big corporate system like Chrysler, you don't get a demotion because of epic sales and profitability......if anything, Ralph might be under more pressure because his performance will be watched even closer with much fewer chances if things don't go as planned. Not a good feeling.

Who has put headers on their car?

I'm running a catless ACR-X header and muffler system and honestly have never smelled fumes. I am also running the Mopar PCM so maybe it leans out the mixture a bit. But it is loud and at idle, when standing at the rear to lift or close the hatch the sound waves actually knock the brain matter...

    SRT Homecoming

Maybe I missed it, but I'm not seeing any threads deleted on this forum regarding this issue....not sure what your are referring to. When looking at the whole picture for 2014, I'm seeing a Viper Homecoming event and a VOI COTA event with real track time available. For a Viper owner, this is...

    SRT Homecoming

If I'm understanding you correctly, the door prize is being controlled by the VOA....not this club, the VCA. If you're concerns are valid, I'd recommend you post a question or concern on the VOA forum....what good would it do here? It is an interesting issue you've brought up. I believe the...

Anybody Have The Scoop On.The 2015/2016 Viper??????

I think Sergio is smart enough to figure out that no matter how great, fast and awesome a "DODGE" Viper is, a Ferrari buyer is always going to be a Ferrari buyer. And what is the worst that can happen, a Ferrari guy buys a Viper and the money still goes into Fiats bank account. Sergio really...

Who has put headers on their car?

What I found is you can get about 2500 miles on a set of the aftermarket cats before the efficiency takes a crap and you get a CEL. I have yet to find an aftermarket cat that is anywhere close to the longevity of the stock system. Maybe that is why the stock set up is two rather porky cats for...
