Yep, I wish they would just come out and say that the Bright Blue color won't make it into the '08 production run and that those orders will be produced and delivered as '09s ...
Ahhh, let me check ...
... um, nope, still no convertible Z06/ZR1 ... but check out that hood window (taken from the Chevy sales training manual)!!! :D
Thanks for the assist ... but if noticed, I listed HP/L calculations for all of the engines, in a naturally-aspirated condition. Based upon GM's many variations of that V8, it's safe to estimate that the 6.2L will generate no more than 450HP -- before adding the blower. So the blower needs to...
Great post! Thanks for the insight on the on-track performance -- a much needed (no bench-racing, no bs) perspective.
... (much better than the junior clap that gets passed around in the alley.)
The rumor is that the ZR1 power delivery will disappoint, as sourced from some close to recent testing of the car. This is a 6.2L motor, not the current 7.0L. The C6 Z06 only impressed everyone because it was such a big jump from the prior Vettes which were so low on power...
My prediction...
When I finished trying systems on my '05, everyone seemed to like the Mopar (Borla) Race cat-back with the RT cat/elbow pipe. It wasn't nearly as jarringly loud at start-up (turning everyone's head in every parking lot) like the Corsa was. The Mopar Race has an inaccurate reputation of being...
I tried the BB, Mopar Race and the Corsa Track on my '05. Corsa was the loudest of all the mufflers (excluding other elements of the system) -- not for me.
From the limited bits I can read in the fuzzy scanned/photo pages of the article (as I quoted above), it suggests the writer went into it with preconceived negative perceptions. He was 'surprised' at how good the ACR was. But they didn't provide any numbers or lap-time comparisons, so they can...
From what I could read:
"... The (ACR) Viper's engine remains as stock, so the big new Vette (ZR1) might win the straightline battle, but it's doubtful it'll win the lap-time war because this Viper ACR, the third since 1999, is packing some serious handling heat under its body shell. ... Herb...
From what i've seen, nobody yet makes what I would want: More power; not much louder. I think that would be achieved with headers and cats that can bolt to the stock exhaust ... but everybody seems intent on selling a muffler, even though the stock '08 sound is said to be near perfect.
NO big changes from the SRT. No need to. Just 'evolve' from here like the Porsche 911.
Overall, I think the Gen 3 SRT was a styling improvement over the previous Gen Vipers. MUCH better looking headlights, and MUCH better looking rear/tail lights. I would however, see room for improved...
It's the economy ... unfortunately, 2006 was two years ago; this is 2008. Look at what is being said at the election exit polls in the primaries ... economic worries.
I personally think it's all overdone. I don't see the big 'ripple effect,' and I don't work in the financial industry. No big...
Folks, it's the ACR raffle that is causing slow sales ... who is going to buy an '08 when they know they will win an ACR in the raffle? :smirk:
Actually, I think the idea that every dealer now has 1 or 2 in the showroom is a bit overstated. My dealer has none. And the 3 he has ordered are all...
I've driven my Viper, and other people's Vipers, on the track. I prefer driving other people's Vipers on the track ... and keeping mine nice and pretty :smirk:
Btw ... numerous Skip Barber courses here and SB racing school graduate, with plenty of track time here. Been to VRL (Viper Days), but don't really care for it. Don't want to be that hard (or bend up) my Viper. Just not my thing.
Man, you just can't quit. (You sound more 'youthful' with each post.) You are really full of yourself, aren't you? Name-calling, and changing your story, over and over again ... I tried to just let it drop; move on, but after several days, here you go again:
"...you do a great job of...
You have to wonder if the Dodge marketing light bulb is on at full power these days ... with all the junk on SPEED channel these days, you'd think Dodge would invite them to be there -- to see (and hear) ALL those Vipers in one place, and then broadcast a short 30 min segment about the event. I...
Go read up on the history. Then come back and give us your book report. The Gen1 was inspired by the Shelby Cobra -- a road car all the way (and Shelby was a road course kind of guy). The GTS raced at LeMans -- and that was the focal point of that car's marketing ... they even drove a dozen or...
I didn't say YOU were the only Gen 1/2 owner as the point of my post.
Your quote was so shallow (about the ZR1) however, that it made a great starting point for my 'rant' ... and now you've helped by adding even more racing knowledge.
You are a true magazine racer (a realist) ...
Re: More axed rummors for the Viper
Here's how it works in my case. I bought a Viper from my dealer, got what I wanted, got a great price. The Viper was a big sale for him and a big purchase for me. The manager also owns a Viper, and we hit it off. So then I bought a Durango from that dealer...
Sorry, but ... ummm ... no.
You know, I'm getting tired of folks with Gen 1/2 cars casting doubt on Gen3 cars (on this forum). I personally didn't like Vipers at all (even the GTS) until the Gen3 was built. And yet I don't spend time on the Gen1/2 forum talking about how far development and...
