Conner plant to close via new UAW contract..

Folks. Time out. Think. The Viper is more profitable right now than it was in '03. If variable profit was an issue, they wouldn't have held the price flat. The R&D costs have already been captured -- they didn't do a complete major redesign for '08, so they don't have huge capital to...

Dodge dealer said 2500 more Viper thats it

False. The article doesn't say when or anything about after the 2008 model year ... we already knew the CAAP is scheduled to close over the next 4 years, we just don't know when.

Conner plant to close via new UAW contract..

Re: Conner plant to close via new UAW agreement.. No, Saleen could possibly handle all aspects of production -- as they've done before.

Conner plant to close via new UAW contract..

Re: Conner plant to close via new UAW agreement.. You would have to assume that Saleen would be a definite possibility. Alternatively, it could also mean that any future generation of Viper would be a very different car, possibly with another shared platform. However, that Chrysler...

    Any updates on 08 delivery?

Good luck with the Z06. The production start date is the only real unknown, everything else is just hyperbole (the anxiousness and delay reminds me of the BMW M3 I ordered when the new model came out in 2001). I think the brief delay will be worth it, but good luck.

For those who missed the Motorweek review of the 2008 Viper . . .

Yes, the Automobile test is bs. They didn't go get a blown, tuner Viper for comparison to the new Z06 when it first came out. That magazine shows total bias for GM. I owned an '05 Viper and I never liked the feeling that for all its looks, it couldn't quite back it up on the street (without a...

For those who missed the Motorweek review of the 2008 Viper . . .

The early Viper was not any better from '92-'2002. That's just pure bs. The market was different -- nobody else was building super high HP cars then. For example, the BMW M3 was a HUGE story in 2001 because it had 333 HP!!! The standard Corvette only put out 350HP in 2004. Now everybody is...

For those who missed the Motorweek review of the 2008 Viper . . .

The answer may be very easy. Get the fuel economy numbers into the comparison. Dodge put 3.07 rear gears on the Viper to boost the EPA numbers. The '08 Viper has much improved mpg. I'll bet they're considerably better than the numbers for the Ferrari (I saw Lambo EPA numbers that were about 10...

    When will '08 production begin?

Re: Are they ever going to build 08 ?? That response, though not precise, sounded reasonable to me :dunno: ... let's face it, this is a board for faithful Viper customers, not 'the industry,' and with the '08s not in our hands yet, we faithful are scratching to talk about anything - how...

After reading the latest Viper Magazine.....

I think if I already owned an modded '03-'06 I might not jump to an '08 -- but I did anyway -- I really believe 2009 or 2010 may be the end of the Viper (some day we'll all look back and admire these days of HP wars) ... I want to own the last, best-of-breed example of the Viper. On the other...

Two Viper teams in ALMS in 2008

I think GT2. The Comp Coupe, as a car that can be ordered that way from the factory, would be in GT2 (I think), a more admirable accomplishment (IMO) ... the Vettes and Astons are fully custom race cars ... I think/hope the Vipers would dominate GT2 :2tu:

Volvo? It's a Viper. Same as the Gen3 but a higher reving engine with more HP, better clutch, stronger gear box and better rear diff ... any comparison to a Volvo only holds if you already thought the Gen3 drove like a Volvo ...

After reading the latest Viper Magazine.....

The thing is, that despite this speculation, ALL, I mean all, of the reviews have said the '08 is awesome and every bit as nasty as any Viper before it. 600HP !!!!!!!!! So where is there a question? It sounds a bit like some owners of earlier Vipers want to believe there are potential...

After reading the latest Viper Magazine.....

??? Makes, uh, hmm, not much sense ... whether or not there is a fuel-saving, drive-by-wire delay, it really doesn't matter since all the reviews say that the car performs significantly better than the previous Gen3 (even with a delay). And if there is any delay, you can bet that will be one...
