Sounds like a broken spider gear, if you have a 03 this is common. A Wavetrac posi is the hot ticket right now. If you are on a budget there are plenty of used posi's out there. I am sure VPA has them.
First check those upper and lower shock mounts. Grab the rotor and move it up and down to see if there is any play in the suspension. Another thing to check is the inner parking brake pad. They wear down and come apart, that could be the scrapping noise.
This sounds like a ground or battery issue. Even if a battery is two years old it could be bad. There are two grounds that are very important. Battery to frame and frame to engine. If either of these are loose or have a bad connection the problem you describe could happen. First you need to do a...
The ACRX computer is a track specific calibration that runs open loop and requires high octane fuel. Calibrations are often changed by SRT for differing tracks and elevations. Best computer for the club racer or bolt on performance Gen 4 would be the MPP controller. Be aware the the MPP...
New door wiring harnesses are available (I am sure VPA can get them). I always replace them. Repaired ones seem to go bad again and I have never had a replacement go bad. Must of done 50 of them.
Your best bet is to change to the Mopar Performance Controller. It has a calibration that works well without cats and the check engine light will not come on.
It could be the rear main seal cover gasket, I had this issue on numerous 1996-7 Coupes as the gasket material had a defect that made it shrink. You think the oil pan is leaking because there is oil there. Have not had any issues with the aluminum gasket.
This could be an idle control motor issue as well. The IAC motor does not want to work when cold, if your battery checks OK this is most likely the cause.
Your numbers are in the range they should be. Stock engines can vary about 5-7%. You could get some more power with a custom tune. If you run on 91 octane fuel then do not get a 93 tune. These engines are very knock sensitive. A tune with more timing may feel good down low but can damage the...
Changing the gears does increase the applied torque to the wheels, torque gets you down the road. The first Cummings truck Dodge put out made 150hp but 400torque. Lower gears do not help unless you can get traction, so consider a better posi when you do a gear change.
Can you comment on the new race Viper and how it differs from the original GTSR. Is the engine displacement the same as the the standard engine? Will these cars be available to private race teams?
Thanks for all your great work.
Dan
Your manifold most likely has a crack. Best repair is to remove it and have it welded. Once rewelded they never crack again. Engines that are cold started a lot and driven short distances seem most likely to have this problem.
Hi Everyone,
I would like to thank all of you for your support over the past 20 years. Economic times can be hard on a small business and unfortunately we could not whether this storm. Our operation with 9 employees was just too big to make economic sense. Moving forward I do want to let all my...
