AAHHHH...tradition.
Don't forget, cars were doing it in 5-6 secs. back in the day.
If I don't see a 0-60 in under 4 secs. now I turn the page.
The quarter mile is still valid though.
The bottom line IMO is that the viper is not a car for everyone, even among car enthusiasts.
There are no laws preventing anyone with a driver's license and sufficient capital from owning one any more than there are laws from preventing anyone with reproductive organs from becoming a parent...
I love the GR-1.
It will probably have a HUGE markup too, like the Ford GT, if it makes it to production so I'm not holding my breath to own one of those either.
Changing rotors with each pad type would seem to be the best option (if not the easiest).
From what little I know, establishing an even transfer layer (of pad material) on the rotor is important for optimum brake performance.
Using different pad materials on the rotor without removing the...
Speaking of oil puking, you might also want to add a puke can which catches the oil "puking" out from the valve covers instead of it going into the air box and making a mess.
Cone cooling ducts are simply 3" ducts going from the front fascia to the front brake calipers/rotors.
Henry and Janni Cone (on this board) devised these with nice intakes that attach to the fascia and plates to attach the other ends to the lower control arms and great instructions (you have to...
A bit off topic but I noticed the new ZO6 will have individual pads for each piston.
That's 20 brake pads!!
That can't be cheap and probably a PITA to replace after every track weekend for the racers here.
I would install Cone's brake cooling ducts.
Your track time will be ruined by boiling brake fluid, I guarantee you, even with the higher boiling point fluids.
If you don't, I'd recommend bleeding the brakes after every track session if possible or at least on the lunch break and end of day...
It's built on the SRT-10 platform.
It has an SRT-8 engine with 425 HP.
Perhaps someone should start investigating the blower potential for that engine :D
If you already have an SRT (or want to pick one up for $60K), why wouldn't you just get one of the aftermarket roofs and put it on and save $20K instead of buying the coupe?
Re: Viper Days - Unlimited and
Tom,
Does Archer not handle the sport cups any longer?
I'm not sure if I'll have the 5 points to give this year for tires and still stay in super mod. The only other option otherwise (other than slicks) would be the street pilots if I understand correctly.
Ray
Let's see how well this 427 small block holds up to the rigors of track use.
The cylinder walls are apparently very thin (iron liners had to be used) and the relatively long stroke has the pistons coming out of the block so much that they had to have skirts.
We know the viper engine is durable.
Keep in mind that the CC has a long overhang in the back and this significantly impacts the overall appearance.
I feel that increasing the overhang on the new coupe would help some.
Re: Viper Days - Unlimited and
Chuck,
They mean Michelin slicks.
I ran sport cups in the challenge series in supermod this past year.
Sport cups then became difficult to get for some reason and they let me run michelin slicks the last couple events in super mod. I got them from Archer...
The shifter handle is shorter so there's less leverage too.
My B&M took two hands for reverse initially but became easier over time.
There shouldn't be a problem with the bolts.
I previously used a vacuum system to bleed the brakes. It works if you are patient and don't create too much of a vacuum (which sucks air into the hose).
I switched to the speed bleeders and it works better and no confusing air bubbles.
Be sure to get the "IV bag" with it....it attaches to the...
