    Street Racing Poll

Well, I went down just this evening to the local street racing hangout - the cops had yellow-taped three gas stations and were aggressively hassling pretty much everyone who even drove by as to why they were in the area. I myself got pinched for no front plate - first time I've ever been...

    foglight lenses popping out?

I lose several per year - I'm pretty close to just getting some sort of ducting kit for my brakes and being done with it.

Nitrous Express Install Walkthrough (link w/ pics)

Jack, could you post some details on that power mod of yours? I'd like to know specifically what I'd need to put it together, and how it works. I decided that unswitched power would be OK for now because the NX kit regulates the bottle heater based on pressure, and because I went with the...

Nitrous Express Install Walkthrough (link w/ pics)

I put together a little essay on installing a NX kit on my GTS. The below link has some lessons learned and pictures, and pretty much covers the nitty-gritty that I learned while trying to do this myself. Enjoy: http://www.boydtech.com/personal

    Head light eye lashes

I expect you could go to any shop that does vinyl and have a custom set done pretty cheaply (probably less than $100), or have them painted for a few hundred bucks.

Finally got my NX kit installed

Installed most of it myself, but had a few things professionally done. This turned out to be a very good thing, since I got a few things wrong that I would have only discovered on a dyno. But, running a 150 shot, I'm at 522 HP, 625 Torque at the wheels, SAE. That's about a 90 HP and 135...

Where's the best place to get side splitters

Re: Where\'s the best place to get side splitters Can JonB at the PartsRack - he has nice aluminum ones for less than $400. He has pictures on his Web site. I have them on my car and they fit great. www.partsrack.com

ACR owners (or anybody with 5 points)

A harness makes it difficult to turn your head to check cross traffic, and do other things that require some upper body mobility. Stick with factory belts for street driving.

    HRE 546 stuck

Sounds low-tech, but I'd sit on your butt facing the wheel, and give it a good kick. Maybe set it slowly spinning, and give it several good kicks.

Anyone experiment with BTR Nitrous kit?

How about moving the N20 bottle into the cabin, maybe in the passenger footwell with a blowdown tube? Possibly rig several smaller bottles under the passenger seat? You could fabricate some sort of bracket to make the whole assembly quick-in/quick-out. If you have a temp controlled garage...

    The Truth About Jon B.

I think JonB needs to put people on hold from time to time because he spends as much time as necessary on the phone with each customer helping get the exact right part for their Viper. I've ordered a *ton* of stuff from JonB, and every time I've called he's taken the time with me to make sure...

    "poser mod" or performance mod.

Re: The Baer rotors are pretty, and the EBC pads stop good and keep your wheels pretty for street use. For serious track cars, I'd be more likely to go with Stoptech slotted rotors and EBC yellows or Brakeman #3 pads. For the street, the stock (Brembo-made) brakes are very good as-is.

    Five point Harness

I concur with NCVCA. If you're going to do much track time, the 6-points are a more secure option, and the TeamTech harnesses are the best. In addition to the quality of the belts, the install instructions are extensive and viper-specific. A

    Driving a GTS 1000 miles non-stop

I made the drive 4 times last year - Seattle to Southern California. Once I did 18 hours straight, no problems - just have plenty of CDs along.

How to run wires from Engine to Cabin?

I need to run some wires from the engine compartment to the cabin, to connect to some switches in the center console. Is there a particularly good way to do this, without drilling through the firewall? I can't see any easy way through, though I haven't checked underneath the car as yet...

Need help in bleeding clutch fluid...

Typically, I'll just turkey-baster it out, then wait. You'll see a little tornado of the lighter dirty fluid drift up in the clutch reservoir - let this go on a while then suck the fluid out again. Repeat once or twice more, until the fluid stays clean.

    So whats next

    1. Paint your car yellow - according to a search of the forums this is the fastest color. 2. "Type R" sticker, the bigger the better. For a 50 HP gain, I'd recommend a big 2 color vinyl job on each door and across the rear glass. 3. Wings apparently add a ton of power too, at least...

    Floor Jack

Wow. I paid $400 for my aluminum jack 2 years ago and it was a major deal at the time - $160 seems like a heck of a price. I had to start using wood ramps for my car after I lowered it a bit with the Eibach springs - the 3.5" jack height is now just a bit too high.

New Corsa and Hi Flow Cat Installation + Brakes

For the rear calipers (on my 98) I've always just used needle-nose pliers. An additional trick is to install and loosen the speed bleeders, so that when I screw in the piston the fluid only pushes out the brake nipple. This makes it so that you can screw in the piston with a few easy turns...

Dyno results: High-flow cats from PartsRack

There's a club dyno day coming up on soon, so I'll take it back and re-dyno it and see if I'm getting a consistent number. I ran 3 pulls last weekend within about 1.5 HP of one another, so it was a fairly consistent result. I actually ran 4 pulls - the first was 440.6 HP with a colder engine...

Dyno results: High-flow cats from PartsRack

The cats are the only engine mod that I've done since my previous dyno. The dyno is almost exactly 1 year later, the weather to my recollection was very similar (grey skies, a little rain), and it was the same dyno at the same shop. They gave me a separate print out of this pull vs. a year...

Dyno results: High-flow cats from PartsRack

I believe that I just have the snake oyl rear subassembly - they were put on by the previous owner but this is what they were identified as at Viper Days. The headers are stock. This is pretty much everything for engine mods, except for filters & tubes. So, with a .85 driveline loss...

Dyno results: High-flow cats from PartsRack

A few months ago, I installed the nice metal substrate Random Tech cats from PartsRack. (JonB gave me a heck of a deal, BTW) I bought them primarily to keep my side-sills cool, though I noticed that the exhaust sounds nicer. Today on the dyno, I discovered that the 3" cat (using adapters for...
