Motor Trend's June Issue states the width at 78.1" (about 3" wider than a Gen II), but matches the Press Kit's length and height at 175.5' and 47.6" repectively.
Re: what\'s the top speed you\'ve hit on the streets ?
I pulled this data off the Silver State Classic (Nevada) Website for last May's event: This is my highest "clocked speed" on a public road to date, since exceeding tech speed = disqualification. My speedo may have crept higher at other...
Here's a post I did last year regarding the same type problem. There are some good tips from Jon B. and others.
At the end, I said I would advise the outcome. The outcome was that it never happened again (9 months ago), so I didn't take it to the dealer. Hopefully it will not occur again. Good...
Markus:
Can you share any more details on how the door needs to be adjusted? Several of us Viper guys at the recent Nevada Open Road Challenge (Silverstate) noted the same thing. At about 155mph and up, the right window starts howling -- The right window on 3 different cars. Why the right one...
Alternative:
I trailer mine, but the Purners are streetable. Don't follow close on the freeway though, because the "skinnies" are not very good for bringing the car to a stop.
If you the get slicks, invest in Unitrax half shafts.
Irwindale is an 1/8th mile track. Good fun, although it cost me $20 when I went on Sunday.
Also, there was some pretty loud cars there. I run high flow cats/headers and am quieter than many of them. Noise is not a problem. I did take a helmet cause they scrutinize the faster cars a little more...
I received a nice Mopar Parts letter. With the great 10% discount parts offer (off full DC List price), we can all stock up on crate motors, hoods and side sills.
This must be a welcome thing to read, if you just took delivery on a 2002 model.
Re: Do I need a \"trap door\" oil pan???
Ron: It is cheap insurance. I had it put in by Said at Star Viper Inc. in Anaheim (714 6329990). He modified my existing pan.
Joe:
I wish I could do 109 in the 1/8th. LACR is at 2710 feet elevation and I only run about a 95 (1/8th) at sea level, so it's either an error or it is at the 1000 ft. mark (although the 1/8th mile ET is about right).
Trey:
I have Borla headers/exhaust, high flow cats, lighter flywheel, 3:45...
.....well it sorta looked like one. At the LA County drags this weekend there was a small turn out of Vipers, so they paired me up with a Stingray. The smoke in the picture was from his burnout, not mine.
I had the better reaction time, but somehow it just made no difference. While I was rowing...
Wow! In that large sea of Hyundais and Kias, your car is really gonna get attention.
My Samsung customers went nuts when they saw mine over here. Shouldn't be any problem being "King of the Hill".
Happy driving
Joe: It hooks right up. I should have mentioned that I have the Unitrax half shafts and 3:45 gears. Fortunately for me Unitrax is only a few miles from my house, so the install was easy.
Some people get by with stock shafts, but I highly recommend the upgrade if you go to slicks.
I bought my...
Joe: I ran ET Street Drag Slicks/Skinnies. I also have ran about 2 second 60 ft. times when on street tires.
Mods are Borla Headers/Catbacks. Slicks give you about 1/2 second, so you're right in there (about same Mph). I did a couple of higher speed runs with a slower ET.
This was my first...
I went to the fairly new Irwindale 1/8 mile Drag Strip this weekend which is conveniently located for many of us SoCal folks. It turned out to be uncrowded, and to be a good practice track. I got in 6 runs in under 2 hours and could have ran at least a dozen if I stayed for the whole day. You...
When people pay $70-$90K for a Dodge, they don't want to play email and phone tag for Service. If someone is away, busy or whatever, it should not affect the interaction with the customer and a satisfactory result.
This has been my only gripe with Viper ownership. For any other car I have ever...
Which GPS units are favored by "Silver Staters"?
Built-in, Portable, or Hand-held? Magellan, Garmin, or ???
Info I've gathered seems more focused on navigating the Freeways.
I would appreciate some recommendations.
