Usually if a hood (for instance) has been repainted, the clear coat is over the stripes and it is really smooth to the touch. Check the stripes on your roof to see if all the stripes on the car are painted exactly the same.
I had my hood and fascia repainted after some track days sand/rock...
Re: Hey DC, the GTS just got its butt kicked at the
Also I would guess that the old GTS time was done in a Chrysler Viper = European Spec that only puts out about 400 ponies. Does anyone know?
Check the heater valve inlet hose clamp. This was the culprit on my GTS. You could smell the small leak cause it is close to the interior air intake. I sliced a little off the hose and put on a new screw type clamp.
I don't even know where that is on an SRT (so maybe it is quite different).
I would erase it and take your code box with you tomorrow (to reset it again if needed).
Don't spoil your trip. JMHO.
Do you have headers? If so you may be on the narrow margin of needing O2 Sims.
Gerald:
How many miles did you get to a set of rears?
I put Kumho 18 inchers on the rears and am very pleased with the way they hook up and handle.
Just wondering how long they last in real world street driving with increased HPs.
Thanks
Re: Getting into the 10\'s
Dan:
Actually my sixty foot times average more in the 1.75 range. I know on this board that's lousy with slicks, but it is what it is on less than optimally prepped SoCal tracks. I'm not going to blame my launch skills much more since you know I've tried a bunch of...
Re: How many 00\' Red/Silver GTS ACR
Gino:
What Moparman meant was to place your cursor over the "red" linked number for '00 and you see the breakdown for stripes.
Catwood:
Check my post about the West Coast Viper Track Days under Viper Racing. There will be instructors available in the Yellow group and it is quite affordable.
Viper Owners:
West Coast Viper’s August 27/28 Track Days at Willow Springs Raceway is fast approaching. Last year’s event fielded about 60 Vipers and was a blast.

What Russ said.
Use this forum to your advantage by asking questions, rather than asking if you did something stupid after the fact.
If you use the search engine, you can also uncover a wealth of useful data. For example:
Early 1997 wheels - Are identical to 1996 wheels. Both can be...
Accusump = Poor Man's Dry Sump (Band-aid).
Unfortunately for me I put on my Bandaid (Accusump) during the install of my new engine after losing the old one on Turn 8 at Willow Springs. That high speed sweeper on a very hot day killed it.
And yes, I had a trap door oil pan when I blew it up...
I have an Accu-Sump in my GTS and $445 is an attractive price. I recall paying about $700 for the materials with a $300 labor fee for my car. After seeing the install completed I'm glad I paid someone to do it. The 3 quart models are typically mounted along the transmission tunnel in a Viper...
0-100 in 6.3 is cooking.
Any real data around to back that up? Seems too good for a 520HP Car, even a light weight one.
Also seems if it was that fast the plane would have lost.
The Gen 2 car does not have a stock underbody.
It looks like that Gen 2 car has a front fascia cooling mod that includes an underbody cover plate (in front of the oil pan). It also sports a panel behind the rear end to seal off the exhaust exit area, and make it more like the gen 3 car at the...
Re: Keeping the engine oiled at the track... What\'s enough?
I run Hoosiers at the track. I had a trap door oil pan and still fell victim to turn 8 at Willow Springs (like several other members).
My new engine :( now has an Accusump.
Re: Silver State Classic - who\'s going?
Bob: May is a better time to run. We didn't have winds and had beautiful cool weather. Hope you can join in.
Art: No team so far. Need 10 cars to field a team, and we're coming up short. I see us with 5-7 cars

I have 550 rwhp
My time slip could possibly have netted a very high ten, if I had your 60 foot time. I predicted low elevens because of your 97 mph speed.
However I did have another run (at another track) that had a 7 flat at 100 mph for the 1/8th, yet I still didn't crack the ten second...
I dug up a timeslip that can give you some idea. I'm the slower car on the left.
60 foot time was not as good, but 1/8th MPH was a little higher.
I'd say a 1/4 mile would be very low elevens.
There's qiuite a few variables that make it hard to accurately predict.
Hope this is helpful.
Thanks very much for the feedback.
Many of us would like our traction limited cars to have an electronic solution to improve lousy 60 foot and quarter miles times.
If you do get to a drag strip, you may find out your time to distance numbers may improve even though your time to speed numbers...
