CONGRATULATIONS!
You made a great choice.
Given the choice of driving a GTS(I have two) or my stock SRT 10, I take the SRT10. The GTSs are for show and track events. The improved handling and brakes combined with the ease of going topless makes the SRT-10 a pleasure to drive.
SoCal Rebell, thanks, but I am not expert in this area.
J-hooks R-hooks, T-hooks - A few years ago when I started towing someone suggested the what I posted above and I thought at the time it was a J-hook?
The only thing I can say is that the T-hooks have worked for me.
Others use the...
The most serious concerns is the software operating system of the Pilot. Many accidents result if the software in not upgraded to high performance software. If the software is not upgraded one must be gentle with the go pedal and steering input.
Pilot Software upgrades available at Viper Days...
Have used a Jeep various years (1998 4.9, 2002 4.7HO) to tow a Featherlite open trailer/Viper. Towing was easy!
Now use a RAM SRT10 Quad Cab to tow. The RAM does not know that it is hooked to a load. Amazing how well the RAM pulls. I suggest a RAM QUAD Cab with Cummings for the ultimate...
The T-Hook is the one I use. Pretty easy to use and available from any trailer store or of the net.
Cross the rear starps, front straps straight. Pull the e-brake and you are ready to go. After the fisrt 50-100 miles check straps and tighten as needed. Check on every gas up.
Check tire...
2:11.8 is a Very Good lap time! Congratulations.
Marco Chavez first time at a track, stock 2003 SRT10 with the origional run flats 2:11.9 http://viperdays.com/results.htm?y=2007&e=65
Tires four years old running in the 2:11's with a novice behind the wheel is outstanding for the Driver, car...
What were your times?
In my exp. With the same tires each day gest faster times due to learning the track. Fresh rubber should be faster then old rubber.
If you want the security of a Nanny contact Woodhouse and buy the Racelogic system. But to suggest the rest of the sports car purest should be forced to have a Nanny, because a few drivers are not willing to take responsibility for Car Control, is pretty selfish and intellectually empty point...
Well, I hate to say this Fred but you are dead wrong on this. I put 35,000 miles on a Gen I. I can tell you with 100% certainty that the snap oversteer issue with the OEM tires (when new!) and the extremely limited feedback when approaching the tire adhesion limit was the tire. Subsequent...
Glad no one was injured.
Men, ego and money get separated when driving a Viper as well as other high performance exotics.
Most of us think we know how to drive. After all we have been driving since we were 16 or younger. Some of us have owned many high performance corvettes, 427 or 429...
Thank you...:nono:
Not true!
1. 92-95 Vipers have a totally different suspension which makes it drive more like an AC Cobra no matter what tires are on these years. Oversteer is part of the nature. In 96 major changes were made to the suspension.
2. For a beginner to run 2:12 at...
Twin Turbo
First I do not think most on this site think hate the stock tires. There are a few who are do not understand the relationship between car control and grip. The Viper has massive torque compared to other brands that many consider high performance cars. I have observed national...
Janni,
You are 100% correct! It is a lot easier to look for an excuse than to accept responsibility for car control. My only concern is that the new owner or uninformed might believe the myth spread by a few who blame everything on something rather then own their own limitations.
No doubt...
Do not blame the run flats for a drivers lack of car control! Several have posted that run flats are not as good as? But look at the track results at Buttonwillow Raceway, a track novice(first time on a race track) turnes 2:12 in a 2003 Viper with the origional (old rubber by performance...
:nono:
The traction of slicks vs stock run flats is better but ever so slightly better. I doubt that sticker rubber would have changed the result of any accident.
Knowing how to drive would have a lot more impact on accidents rates.:drive:
Most seem to look for excuses rather than...
Here is raw data go to page 83 and study the data and tell me how to conclude a nanny would reduce the accidents by 30%?
http://www-nrd.nhtsa.dot.gov/pdf/nrd-30/NCSA/TSFAnn/TSF2004.pdf
Page 108 also points out a lot about driving habits.
The DOT study - leaves a lot to be desired for cause and effect, IMHO. Data compares older cars vs newer cars with the Nanny.
Look at and come to your own conclusion regarding cause and effect.
