What common transmission failure are you finding in these cases?
Are these with multiple vehicles and drivers or one/two individual repeats?
I would assume with the pedals at max distance away from the driver possibly the clutch is not being fully disengaged causing the transmission wear...
Im not aware of the damage extent or repair quote. In this specific case yes, totaling it is the likely final decision. I was speaking in a more general sense which applies to all vehicles.
As stated above with the Carfax and other services being used on nearly every used vehicle purchase...
Good suggestion but what to do when the repair cost is half that. 15k or 18k. They will refuse to total it. Then the only option is to fight for that diminished value.

The cheapest route would be fleaBay. Occasionaly they pop up in new condition in all the colors including "chrome". Problem is they sell one badge at a time.
Dealer cost would be high.

By my best assumption the ins. companies use a model similar to the KBB value taking into account miles drive and other factors. Thus yielding the low ball number.
If this were my case, I would find comparable vehicles in similar condition and miles and base the sale price (market value) of...

I dont remember the OP but the title said something about Obama and the "Socialist" billboard being removed.

The "snout" or input shaft on the s/c is designed to leak a slight bit of oil. That ensures the unit is working properly. On the top of this shaft just behind the pully wheel you will see the bolt.
You need to be sure and wipe this oil away from time to time or it can get onto the wheel and...

You can do it from the top. Remove the cover and drill out the rivits. Easier to have the dealership do it since it'll be there. Just ask them if they are going to remove the trans or change it from the top.

Ditto on the 10k... If you find someone looking to do more than just the simple bolt on S/C system you've got quite the package there.
Snap some good pics and post all the pertinents like miles, condition, numbers and you've got yourself a nice sale set up.
