Power Steering Fluid Leak

Started gen1 headgasket replacement yesterday
Completed last night and in time to see the Pistons spank the Spurs. Used wood blocks on inside of valve covers and rag on alternator to position intake close enough to connect fuel line and give me a little room. Is there a Fix?
Are you certain the cap didn't come off starting the problem? If so, Archer or Roe Racing have a fix to keep it on. Are you certain the line to the reservoir didn't come off? That rather common.- 95Viper

Started gen1 headgasket replacement yesterday
Installed spark plug wires, coolant tubes and hoses, poured a little oil over rockers, installed valve covers, spark plug wires harnesses. Power Steering Fluid Leak
Remove the cap so you can see what is going on. There is a rubber splash shield, then slots that allow air to go through the center of the "nipple" on the cap. The reservoir needs to be vented. Make sure nothing is broke, the dipstick isn't broken. Blow through the nipple. If nothing moves...- 95Viper

Tiny screw hole in front bottom of valve cover - why?
Gen1 - Driver valve cover - small screw hole in bottom front. Looks like the same screw holes that spark plug wire harness attaches to. Less dust and squeaks if you prep the rotors correctly. Just remove current ones and spray rotors with brake cleaner and you'll be back here complaining about squeaks.- 95Viper

What should go on first? Intake or valve covers?
I took so much stuff off, I sort of can't recall what would be easier to put back on first, the valve covers or intake? First I thought the intake but then I thought the valve covers would give you something to rest the intake on while hooking up the fuel line at the rear.- 95Viper

Alternator and power steering bracket mounting bolts
Gen1 - On the front top of the heads, there are bolts to the mounting brackets that the alternator/pump mounts to. I looked all over the service manual and it gives specs on 30lbs for the alternator to the bracket but not the bracket to the head. Thoughts?- 95Viper

Update from weekend - Tool tips I keep forgetting about that will make life easier 1. Adapter sockets from 1/2-3/8 and 3/8-1/2 and 3/8-1/4 and 1/4-3/8 2. 3-4 different lengths of 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2 extensions each. I'd recommend 1 to 2", 4", 6", 10" 3. Update - Only had an hour since the Pistons were on, maybe should have kept working on Viper. Removed fuel connection at manifold, heck with the quick disconnect. Have a bunch of rags handy and under the intake, a lot of gas came out when it popped off. Removed intake, removed more hose...- 95Viper

Intake manifold fuel connection
Gen1 - Removing intake. The manual says to remove the fuel line quick connect that runs below the thermostat. Cal, Arrow might have just the headgaskets for $400 but this job takes about 9 other gaskets to complete. Intake, exhaust, thermostat (I think there are 4 there on a gen1). I got mine from Tator, complete set 20% off, no tax, delivered, still a stupid price but at least Tator gives you a deal...- 95Viper

Torque on coolant plugs, hood bolts and paint on intake bolts?
Cool...good reading...I really wonder now if I could have just jacked the rear up and let most fluid drain out the radiator and left the plugs alone. It was risky to get them out and I doubt I'll do it again. I'm really curious about the torque on the 4 bolts for the hood, it didn't take much...- 95Viper

Clutch pivot point clip came off
That's happened before and someone here on the board makes the clutch lowering kit that changes the pivot point and the new one is way stronger. For a Gen1. Not sure about others Gen's.- 95Viper
