    NEED HELP Cleaning Neglected RIMS and Fixing Brake Pads!!!

    Call the vendor on the rims. Replace the pads with new. Don't mess around with reusing them or sanding them. Consider a "less dust" pad like EBC Greens.

    I don't haver it but if I did see a little cracking, couldn't you consider having a larger pad of steel welded to the original feet of the lift? Maybe twice the size like 10x10" or 12x12?

    Did anyone tell you Gen1's were faster than the others? Don't believe the rumors about the horsepower ratings being lower than Gen2's or 3's. Truth is the numbers have lowered over the years just like in the early 70's.

    I used simpe green and a hose last weekend on a bimmer and it worked fantastic. Covered electrical with plastic wrap and didn't go nuts with the water.

    6 month old Optima battery stopped working...

    My Optima fit with a lot of room to spare. I heard Optima released a new battery that was shorter, haven't validated that yet. I heard of those who put blocks in there and used a bottle jack to lenghten the battery tray, seems like a good idea.

    I also hear of many people calling a jiffy lube place and renting their bay for $10. they'll do it during slow periods and you'll dump your oil right there. Change it yourself standing up for $10, priceless.

    One more thing -- Is the service manual good about tips on grease or lube or whatever for reassembly? I'd hate to be finished and someone say, you should have put some oil on this or that before reassembly. For instance, since I'm keeping valve stem seals, do I remove and lube them with something?

    Which tubes are better?

    96GTS, I have the chrome tubes with red silicone ends that are like brand new. Had them on last year about 2K miles. I'm interested in switching to Mopar black smooth tubes, the ones with the factory bend in them near one end, not just the straight ones. Want to swap?
