Some of the best things stated above are 1) Don't move the car with the hood ajar and 2) put as many miles on the car as you can. Also, the most effective mods you can make are headers / exhaust and maybe roller rockers. Outside of that (and maybe a tiny spray of juice...I mean cologne) the car...
Bias is the point I made in an old thread that caught a lot of attention. Of course, BWright (who doesn't own a Viper) argued incessantly that there was no bias. There is HUGE bias. They hate to admit that the Viper wipes up all their elite european cars. A Corvette is harmless to their other...
I spoke with Eric today on a different issue and mentioned the Motec adjustment for the tire change. He promised me that they would post the fix within a week or so (definitely before the first event). Looking forward to seeing you guys soon.
El Diablo,
I've lived in Miami for 30 years and have 4 Vipers at my house (along with another 8 cars or so). No problems. If you want to live in MIAMI, you'll want to live in Coral Gables or Pinecrest (maybe Key Biscayne). If you want to live in Ft. Lauderdale, I think you'll want to live in...
A little grinding when the car is cold is more acceptable than all the time. It's because the oil in the tranny is thick and won't allow the synchros to work well until it thins out and heats up. I'd take it VERY slow shifting while cold to avoid the grind.
Re: Advice for first time on a track with stock \'02 GTS
What Janni said is correct! The MOST important thing you can do for your brakes (therefore your car and your a**) is to COMPLETELY flush out the old brake fluid and replace it. Even if your fluid is only 1 year old, it is too old. You...
Oreca,
Nice job, but the models seem to be missing the length that [member] SRT-10's models show. Stretch those babies out. It's the long low look that is so appealing, not the "coupe conversion version" of the SRT-10.
If you know how to double clutch, try matching engine and driveshaft speed as closely as possible when you shift. If that fixes the problem, you probably have worn synchros.
All I can tell you guys is that I bought a brand new set of Hoosier slicks at the beginning of November 2003 (maybe it was the end of Oct.) The crew chief at Archer wouldn't let me save them until Jan 2004. Now, apply that experience to your 1 1/2 years. By the way, if you are competing on any...
Jon is one of the greatest assets to the Viper community. He fully supports all the race series and puts his money where his mouth is. Hats off to Jon.
Re: SRT-10 blown subwoofer
I have the same issue with the sub woofers. I had them replaced and the new ones did it right off the bat. I think that it's really the enclosure that is rattling rather than the speakers being blown...not that it's any comfort to those who have to listen to them...
The South Florida Viper Club is having it's annual Christmas Party this Saturday, Dec. 13 at my home. If you did not get an invitation and would like to come, please email me and I'll send you directions to my home. There will be plenty of parking off the street in my driveway (we can fit about...
Tool Man,
I removed the mufflers under the side sills and replaced them with straight pipes. I feel like it gave me a boost but maybe it was the psychological aspect of being able to hear the engine at WOT. It also cools down the side sills and interior of the car a bit. It's a terrific $30...
Re: 2003 SRT-10 - Factory buy back - what\'s it worth?
I would take a factory buy-back in a flash. In 1995 Dodge took my first RT-10 back because it had a defective tranny right out of the showroom. They simply gave me a brand new car. My guess is that they put a new tranny in my original car...
