Re: A more relevant race would be a 2013 VIPER vers the McLaren
No issues at all in my McLaren or GTR hot lapping them down the drag strip.... can't say the same from my experience with ZR1s and Vipers, having clutch fluid contamination and having to clean out the reservoir to get more passes...
Re: When a stick car is driven correctly..Kyle Lemish is a normal guy who..
Don't forget you also need perfect track prep, perfect weather, good driver and that only seems to happen by those few guys at those couple tracks, 99% of the times are not even close to that... :)
Re: A more relevant race would be a 2013 VIPER vers the McLaren
the magazines seldom visit a real drag strip when testing the cars, it's all computer recorded data... not real world in my book....
good race and good driving in the Viper... just shows how good the DCT transmissions are, 100HP less and more weight and you're side by side...
he ran your race, did you run his? from a dig? :)
Someone will get into the 10's in the Gen V Viper with some good driving, weather and track prep, no question about it, it's just not easy and won't happen often...
true for the exotic makes, but the GT-R is $30k less than the equivalent Viper, and the base price of the new 991 911 turbo is $148k, right inline with the new Viper...
let's put me in the GT-R and you in the Viper and see what happens... :)
MP4-12C, 911 turbo, 458, GT-R Track Edition can all hang with the Viper with equivalent tires on a road course.... the Viper and the ZR1 have the stickier tires available from the factory to make up for their front engine RWD config....
I agree, when I bought my 1996 Viper GTS it was king of the hill and kept on blowing everything away years later.
There is a lot more competition these days and in my opinion the Viper has fallen behind... If the Viper is destined to stay old school keeping it's huge naturally aspirated V10...
winning is winning, doesn't matter who is driving the Viper, you'll going to lose in the 1/4 mile to the GT-R, I ran 10.8 in my bone stock 2013 GT-R.... on an unprepped surface/street like this race was on you have ZERO chance....
that's my car, I had headers, exhaust, mopar for those runs.... with the wing off and better weather I went 11.0 @ 132 MPH.... stock I did 11.6 @ 126 MPH....
Ray did 11.6 @ 129 in his stock 2008 coupe...

they can't be selling that well, dealers have them sitting on the showroom floors, they are all over ebay and I've heard of some pretty decent discounts already....
I would be really mad if I ordered a car early and was sitting waiting while other cars are sitting on the lots...
