I also live in Northern Calif. and I have a 95 that I spend quite a bit of time at the track with. These cars do run hot and the best thing you can do is add the late model fan, very easy to install and avaliable from Jon B. at the parts rack. Also get the bleeders, they are a big help...
The law in Calif. has changed as far as the older Vipers go. It only needs to have 2000 miles on it to register it. I just bought a 95 in Colorado and had no problems registering it in Calif.
There is a company called Brandon Distributing that sells a cruise control for the Gen II but not Gen 1 Viper. It sells for around $180.00. I have not seen one yet that will work with a Gen 1 Viper because of the dual throttle cables. On Gen II both throtles work off of one cable. The Gen I...
I have a 95 that I bought 6 months ago and it had 17000 mi. on it. I live in Calif. but flew to Denver to get it. Looked for a couple of months in Calif but ran across what I was looking for at a good price there. The car now has 30000 mi. on it. A few track events and a couple of runs to...
I agree the bar is a pain to remove and install. I have not tried it yet but I am going to enlarge the holes enough to get my fingers in to hand tighten the bolts and to get a ratchet wrench in there after they are hand tight.
Unless you plan on driving the speed limit, ( I sure can't) then get a good radar detector. I live in Calif. and flew to Denver and bought a Viper last year. Fortunatly I took a detector with me and it sure saved my a-- coming back. Have a great trip.
All 4 of these bolts have to be removed to install a factory hard top and it is a pain in the a--. I found a way to get more then a 1/16th turn with a wrench though. Take a 1/2 inch open end wrench and file or grind the sides of it down so that there is only 1/8th to 1/4 inch on either side of...
I have been buying and selling on e-bay almost since they started. Nothing as high priced as a Viper but I buy and sell antique diving equipment some in the 5 to $10,000 range. There have been a number of people trying to sell replica helmets as originals. That is fraud. I have informed a...
I don't live far from San Jose and I just sent the seller an e-mail and ask him if I could come and look at the car. I have a 95 that I would consider selling if this one is for real. Will keep you posted.
Scott,
All of the above are good suggestions. I have a 95 that I have done quite a few track events with. The only thing I did to the power steering unit was to put a heat shield between it and the exhaust manifold. It bolted right to the manifold. Someone also suggested using Mopar cold...
I change mine after every track event. Just use a turkey baster and suck it out. There are some good hi temp fluids and I use the one that Dodge sells. It is cool weather coolant. Has much higher boiling point then regular fluid.
If anyone is interested in slicks for the track there is a gentlemen in Wisconsin that sells slightly used full race slicks. I just got a set for my Viper but have not been on the track with them yet. I bought a set of these tires for my 93 Vette a few years ago and they lasted through many...
Sounds like some of you need to join my club. I am the
president of M.P.M.V.A. Membership is growing rapidly, sort of.
M.P.M.V.A. is the short word for The Male Pre-menstural Victims
Assn. He who lives with the afflicated also suffers. They may deserve this affliction but you NO LONGER have...
Re: is this a good price for a \'93? or could something be wrong?
6 months ago I flew from San Francisco to Denver and bought a 95
Viper with 17000 mi. on it for $38000.00 with air. It now has
28000 mi on it and I have had no problems at all. The car was advertised on the VCA board and I...
Polishing rims is hard dirty work. You can remove the clear coat and do them but I would not even attempt it without the right buffing compopunds and a good 3 hp buffer. I would suggest taking them to a platers and just tell them you want them polished although to have them chrome plated is...
I have done quite a lot of research on jammers and tried a couple and have found that they do not work. Passive jammers are legal but I have yet to see one that worked. Active jammers work but are illegal in the US. I have the instructions for converting a radar detector into an active jammer...
It is much easier to remove the seat if you take out the bottom cushion first. There is a clip on the front part of the bottom of the cushion. Just push down and back on it and the cushion will come right out. I take mine out frequently and swap it with the drivers side so that one does not...
I have tried the one from Rocky Mountain Radar and it does not work. There are a couple out there that do but you are looking at 12 to $1500.00 for one. For a test and other good information try this web sight:http://www.radartest.com/.
The plates on my 95 read LUGNAF. These plates were given to me almost 20 years ago by an old girlfriend. In the last 7 years every time I have transferred them to a new vehicle, DMV has tried to recall them. The partial translation is Let's Us Get
Naked And you can add the last 4 letters...
I got a double buble hardtop for my 95 a few months ago and I drilled holes in the top where the pins go instead of removing them. Worked out good and you dont have to wory about loosing them.
I have a 95 and I installed a Pager alarm in mine. It has about a 3 mile range depending on the terrain. It is pretty simple to install but it does require an antena. I have used this type of an alarm on my Vette and on my motorcycle and installed a number of them for friends. The best...
