I was concerned about it restricting my vision...but after one full season with the HANS, I will never race without it. You become adjusted to it almost immediatly and many people don't know that it really helps fight fatigue. I reccommend if you get the HANS to get the "Nascar quick release...
Mike is right Halon is old...go with the newer foams like AFFF which are totally safe if you get spayed with it. Lifeline (http://www.lifeline-fire.co.uk/products/auto_sys.htm) makes one of the best electronic systems using AFFF but even better at fire suppression is Cold Fire...
according to a scientist with the initials EM, number of caliper pistons, amount of contact surface and rotor size does not matter in stopping distance if you can fully brake to lock the wheels...it only matters in heat dissipation.
Bruce at Bruce's Speed Shop (973) 664-0192 (www.brucesspeed.com) has done a few in aluminum and probably has a good template. All I've seen need side exhaust. rear diffuser
I believe Dan is totally right about this...the "failure" seems to only happen to 96-97 cars with modified shocks and springs, running DOT racing tires (R1's Gforce, Hoosiers) or slicks hard on road course tracks with extreme lateral loads put on all the components...such loads that would...
from NESCCA website:
LIBERTY BELL MOTORSPORTS PARK
I thought the list might like to hear about the latest attempt to install a real race track here in Eastern Pa. This follows in the wake of the failed Formula Motorsports Park/country club that tanked due to enviromental issues after years of...
I recall someone saying to put them in plastic bags (to keep the moisture in) in a warm basement, laying flat, stacked two high...if a few were left on a trailer tire rack do you think they would be ok ?...or "floopers" at the next race?
The way I heard it from an AVR driver was just plain old tires...AVR can't get the Michelins. The Michelins are so good the Audis can double stint them sometimes. The Michelins seriously helped Oreca in the past against the Bowtie boys
I bought my 01 ACR for the purpose of club racing in the SCCA. It was mandatory that I have SFI compliant belts so I had to replace the Momo belts with the "best belts" (Team Tech) at my own expense in order to pass the 01 annual tech. JonB showed me the way to be reimbursed by DC for the Team...
I thought I got an email recently from Skip that put the ABS question for the remaining 01 and 02 season to rest. Please correct me if I'm wrong but I think it went: ABS is allowed in GT1 with a weight penalty. ABS is allowed in GT2 with no penalty since the cars are to be T1 legal also.
I have purchased 3 trucks from Reedman's and they are great for price but make the trip to see chuck Tator at Tator's Dodge 914-763-3136 in South Salem NY if you care about what happens to your Snake. @140 miles from Reedman.
After hard track usage, my 96 factory wheels cracked. I can't remember if the 97s are ok or just as bad as the 96. I'm pretty sure 98 on are good.
Skip also sent out a bulliten about wheel failures from Viper Days.
Anybody remember?
ATTN: Viper Days track folks...
I will trade a set of Forgeline 5 spoke racing wheels (very light) and in excellent shape (never hit) for a perfect 97-01 factory set. The reason is the Forgeline's are too wide for SCCA T1. Email me for more info.
Recently at Hallett during a driver's meeting, I was asked what the blue flag with the yellow stripe was for. I answered wrong. The correct Oklahoma answer is:
"There's a race goin on and you aint' in it!"
Good luck to Sonny, Bernie and the McCann boys to bring it home for the East.
