Andy -
Don't forget, the Ford Exec said the GT40 would be weigh in at 3400 lbs. We could not believe that such a small car could be so heavy. From one of the Ford designer's lips no less. The GT led about a dozen REAL GT40s around the track at Laguna Seca last weekend. Very Cool!
The car was...
No to cruise control
No to radio controls
These are "would be nice" features for a few, but are certainly not necessary and move the car closer towards a gizmo-laden Vette.
BIG Yes to 200lbs off the curb weight (And no to anything that adds weight).
A REAL DEALER is one that can deliver your car 4-8 months before the small guy who has limited allocation. The REAL DEALER sells a large quantity of Vipers because they cater to Viper owners, both in sales and service. I ordered my SRT-10 from Woodhouse even through it was 1500 miles away. That...
We have heard that a few cars have been repaired, can the owners with repairs post their results?
Does your car perform differently (not that 25HP will make that much of a difference, but I have heard about high RPM flutter, exhaust backfiring, etc.).
Did the Viper tech do a good job?
Have...
Joe is in a tough spot. Thanks for your efforts for us!
The situation has not changed. I can see my hood sitting on the roof and the heads sitting on the trunk while the valves are being replaced. I see my valve covers, airbox, and throttle body sitting on the (quick oil change) shop floor...
Who isn't going to dyno their SRT at least after the repair ? How could you not. You'd always wonder.
I am going to dyno mine before and after.
Add 1 or 2 dyno trips to the headache list caused by this goof. $300 is not nearly enough for this inconvenience. They are treating us like Dodge...
Call Chrysler at 800-890-4038. They will sell you a 2003 SRT-10 service manual over the phone.
The hardcopy sells for $110 plus tax & shipping.
The CD sells for $90 plus tax and shipping.
Personally, I'd rather have a book to read while I am crawling under the car.
I called the recall center and my SRT-10, VIN # 668 was not included in the intake valve recall. My car says that it was built 02-03. It went into D1 status on January 6, hit E Status on February 6 and finally KZ Status on February 14. I think I need a trip to the dyno to make sure.
Re: Scott Mead
I smoked a late model ZR1 at the Carlsbad raceway with my comparatively slow stock '93 RT/10 in 1995. ZR1 prices demonstrate their lack of desirability now that even a mustang cobra can whoop it. They need to compare the vette to a mustang or a boxster. It is definitely not in...

OK, I figured that the ABS light on the magazine car was from severe abuse. Maybe not.
I drove over a speed bump at about 3 MPH and the ABS light came on and hasn't gone off. I checked the brake fluid level, even added a little DOT 4 to be sure, but this is most peculiar. I have 1400 miles on...
Re: Scott Mead \"Vette remains King of American Drop-tops\"
You can hop up a Mustang, Corvette or a Camaro, and guess what . . . they are what they are. It may be faster than a Ferrari but it will still be a Mustang, Corvette, or Camaro. Saleen, Cobra, SS, Z06 . . . it's like caviar on a...
Mike - I know that the valve replacement job is simple, I just wonder if the head will be lying on my trunk while the R & R is in process (An exaggeration to make a point). Every time you have surgery on the car, someone who cares about the car a whole lot less than you is working on it...
I have a red SRT-10 in the San Diego area, but I was not on 73 yesterday. I saw a factory SRT-10 at the Desert Cruise a few weeks ago, so maybe it's a factory car on a magazine test drive.

If only I can find a local dealer I can trust to remove the heads, replace the valves and put it back together like new. I appreciate their efforts to make things right, but I am skeptical on the capabilities of the local Viper techs. I don't want to be their first guinea pig. Sigh.

Re: SRT\'s being delivered in CA.
Don't forget the privilege of owning the first CA car ordered and delivered (#668, name on the sticker!) is mine. Accepted on Friday, February 21. All others are low HP rejects.

Re: If you don\'t have one, you NEED a lift!
I have had a Cytech DP7 since 1996. It is great! No problems. Watch out for the Perfect Park. One failed with a Corvette on it (see prior posts).
Best regards,
Frank
I noticed that the yellow owners manual addendum discussed how to extract the EIN # from the RBQ radio to enable the Sirius Satellite Radio service for the SRT-10. I followed the instructions: turn the key to accessory with the radio off, then simultaneously hit the Time and CD Eject buttons for...
It's Bentley Arnage not Aranarge, junior! . . . and I believe the GT-1 as well. Momma warned you that lying and spanking the monkey will make you go blind! Don't you have some homework to do?
SRT-10 build & delivery schedule chronology for VIN # 668, first ordered & delivered California Viper:

E Status - February 6 - Day 31
G Status - February 10 - Day 35
