I took the hood pad off almost a year ago and I have some vinyl stuff under there now. No issues with the vinyl, no discoloration of the paint, no lightning strikes, no nothing. Just a nice, clean, sanitary look.
It doesn't answer your question but invest in one of those CD rom based Viper service manuals that they sell on Ebay for about $50. I got one a couple years ago. Good thing it's on CD because if it had been an actual book, I'd have worn it out by now.
What kind of "special tool" did he need? I found the front ones top and bottom no problem. On the back, the one behind the brake rotor is a bit hard to find but I didn't need any special tool. I found each one that's shown in the service manual. Hope there aren't any "secret" ones.
With sensor-less wheels, you'll get one extra "chime" shortly after startup. Other than that, the only other thing you'll get is the warning message displayed in the little LCD screen above the odometer reading. Barely noticable if you're not looking.
Once you put the regular tires back on...
I just changed my rear with Mobil-1. I put in the limited slip additive just to be safe since the Mobil-1 web site wasn't clear on whether it's needed or not. They make some statement about only needing the additive for heavy duty use or something like that. A Viper is heavy duty right...
The spacers look like this. They bolt on to the stock studs using the provided bolts. Your wheels then bolt to the studs that come mounted on the spacers. With 25mm spacers, the stock studs will stick out past the spacer a bit. It just so happens that the stock 10 spoke wheels have little...
Here are some H&R 25mm (about 1 " ) spacers just on the back. Even on a car that's not lowered, I think it's a big improvement over the "tucked" look that they gave us from the factory. Done about 200 miles with them but been very cautious to start with. Took the wheels off after 100 miles to...
Have you purchased the e-brake kit yet? Mine came with a CD that had photographs of what everything is supposed to look like and how it's supposed to route.
Also - I have one of my ebrake calipers completely off the car right now for painting. When I get home later I'll post some pics of...
If your asking that about my car, then yes. I have small mud flaps on the front and back. I've had them on there for so long I don't even notice them anymore.
They're homemade. I bought some of those huge-ass truck mud flaps they sell at Autozone and such. They're the ones that are...
Prior to doing anything, my barrels were dull grey. These pics are from Calchrome's website. Mine look like the "unpolished" picture but maybe a tad more shiny. They surely don't look like the "polished" picture
