Higher octane fuel simply means that it takes higher pressure and heat before the fuel will combust or detonate on its own without the assistance of a spark plug. Take our Viper engines for example. Compression and temperatures in Viper engines are higher than in most cars and as a result...
After 14 months of ownership, I've only managed to rack up 5200 miles. This is not a collector car or garage queen to me, but rather a fun car to drive, and I'm hoping for a lot more fun this year!
As required by Virginia International Raceway to get me as far as possible below my roll bar, I installed the Northwind Engineering (NWE) two-inch, non-adjustable seat lowering kits for both the driver and passenger side. To my surprise, I couldn’t be happier with the two-inch lowering kits. I...
Re: Sport Cups on HRS\'s
Anyone know if the Pilot Sport Cups squeal before breaking loose? It's my understanding that one drawback (at least for us track beginners) to slicks is that they don't give any audible indication that they are nearing their grip limitation, unlike street tires, which...
My Sloan is a 20-footer. I know an 18-footer would have worked fine, but I wanted the extra space at the front to put wheel/tires and I wanted to be able to stand in front of the car and pop the hood when the car was on the trailer (which is something I don't think you can do on a Sloan...
Wow! I’m glad you and your daughter survived what was obviously a terrible wreck. By the look of your roll bar and what we can see of the rest of your car, you really lucked out. Looking at your roll bar, it’s not really clear that it helped very much on the passenger side, no doubt due to...
I went with the Sloan Kwik Load Trailer. It's a roll-back trailer (meaning the bed tilts back so you drive onto it without having to use ramps) and the angle is low enough that the front end doesn't touch the bed. It's very light weight (if you go with the aluminum bed option) and a Roles...
Dang, what a candy store! That was fun. Thanks for sharing those with us AND reminding me that I need to move to Florida. DC is brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr...
Great shots!
Yes, you have it correct. The first generation of the Autoform roll bar for the SRT has the high cross-bar between the hoops, while the second generation does not.
I've found it necessary to walk around the car and push down on all parts of the top when first folded back before closing the trunk. Even so, the trunk always pushes on the top a bit too when it shuts.
Good news on opinions regarding the Autoform roll bar for the SRT-10.
In the process of working with Krause and England ( http://www.krauseandengland.com ) to determine either what it would take to get my Autoform roll bar up to SCCA SOLO1 spec, or to fabricate an entirely new roll bar for...
Re: NEW Shiftlight Installation (Pics) - Anyone Interested in Group Buy?
Red vs. Blue LED?
Wow! I like it! I’m trying to decide between the red and blue LED. If the blue is just as good, then that’s the one I think I want since my redline/rev limiter light is already red and I wouldn’t want...
From what I just read, in AZ the car tax on a used car is the value of the car times 0.01734. So if the value is $80K, then tax owed is $1387.20. AZ values a car at MSRP new, less 16.25% each year.
Here is the long version which gets you to the same place:
[In Arizona there] . . . is a $4.00...
Um..., I think I’m missing your point here. The roll bar is to protect me and my passenger from my mistakes and those of others. It’s not a matter of finding or assessing blame, it a simple question of how much confidence in my roll bar is justified. I do fully expect to cause a crash or get...
