    Hellcat versus Viper transmission

Updating your Ignore List is infinitely better than sinking to the level of hurling insults back and forth. On-lookers can't tell and don't care who started it all, but both parties look worse for doing it.

    Hellcat versus Viper transmission

Jack, A crew chief gave me a tour of Ben's GT3-R at Mosport and pointed out the use its sequential rear mounted transmission. I also saw one fitted to a comp coupe I saw at VIR that the owners were testing to see if they wanted to put it in their other cc. I think I heard one application was...

Great price on new Viper TA if anyone is interested

Mine is actually appreciating...a little more every time I drive it:)

A question for you racers out there

I can't answer that but I do know that if pigs had wings they could fly:) Curious why you would ask that since SRT has said no aluminum frame and no Hellcat for the Viper.

The current and future state of Viper sales and technology

I never said it is "primarily" a track car, nor intended to give that impression, nor have I seen anyone else make that claim. The motorsports goals of SRT's Viper design team are known to many, and I'll just leave it and this thread there.

The current and future state of Viper sales and technology

Early days still for the Gen V. Hardly anyone tracks them at all...and even fewer are likely to do it as a dedicated track car for some time. Sales would be a lot stronger if there were more track rats buying in the $100+ k range, but they more typically jump on a platform when examples can be...

The current and future state of Viper sales and technology

They're much more than just a street car! "Track day cars" are most often also daily driven/drivable licenced street cars, often with simple mods to help their performance and durability on the track. They seldom have additional safety equipment like roll bars and ages. All models of...

The current and future state of Viper sales and technology

I've wondered about that on occasion myself, but it's hard to check at 150 mph with a 6 pt harness on :lmao:

Viper TA Track Attack #6/7, VIR June 25-26, 2014

It's a Mini 801 Pro dashcam. They've just come out with the replacement Pro 2...http://www.ojocam.com/ I have one installed all the time on the windshield that you can barely see in the video tucked up to the right of the rearview mirror. It's mount is permanently wired into power at the...

Advice for those who haven't taken a road trip in their Gen V

Good advice! And the Viper is enjoyable with stock suspension and exhaust also! Would yours be louder with headers and running just out of the drone zone with your gears than the stock car running in the drone zone?

The current and future state of Viper sales and technology

Some of the differences on the TA would only account for incremental improvements in performance, and really only on the race track as opposed to the street, but there are three that I think are significant. Different drivers might prefer different sway bars, spring rates and damper valving...

The current and future state of Viper sales and technology

The guys working at SRT spent nights dreaming of Halle Berry and ended up designing the latest Viper. Yes, both male and female buyers are exceedingly attractive and successful individuals with a great sense of style. They recognize and appreciate a great high performance car when they...

Viper TA Track Attack #6/7, VIR June 25-26, 2014

I saw a 2:13 and a lot of 2:14's in traffic, but don't know of other's lap times. As I got myself dialed in I progressively got faster and was passing the faster cars that had been quicker previously, and wasn't passed after that in the last session or two. There had been a couple of highly...

Viper TA Track Attack #6/7, VIR June 25-26, 2014

Those of you who have followed my track threads know that I’ve been racking up the miles and track days… 6000 miles and 7 days over the 9 weeks leading up to this 2 day event with Chin Motorsports at the iconic Virginia International Raceway. I had carefully searched for a car that was not only...

Great price on new Viper TA if anyone is interested

A dealer unloading a car he's been sitting on won't devalue the car. He's likely had countless opportunities to sell it at a higher price, but didn't. 2015's are coming with little in changes...smart money will grab a bargain on these great cars.

A few laps around a road course would answer that question. I haven't met a McLaren yet on a straightaway, but if one pulled on me it would likely be the first stock production car to do so. But what makes it perfect for SRT's ultimate streetable track day car is that they were able to build a...

Good questions Bob. And if they hadn't considered a Drag Pack car I think you just gave them a pretty good road map for one!

Gen V forum posting vitriol discourages SRT/Dodge participation

Thanks for the responses so far. I suspect the issues that Gen V owners are interested in may be different somewhat from those who haven't bought yet for a variety of reasons. We all share the desire for the car to continue to be built, although differ on what the focus and features of the car...

Gen V forum posting vitriol discourages SRT/Dodge participation

Thank you for your sharing your thoughts SnakeBitten, and others. The questions posed were intended to have us question some of our assumptions rather than provide answers, or excuses for things gone wrong. We need to ask ourselves how important it is at this stage to assign blame...

Gen V forum posting vitriol discourages SRT/Dodge participation

I had the pleasure of spending considerable time with a number of SRT/Dodge's senior management as their guest at the Tudor Race the weekend before last, and met another couple this past weekend at Homecoming. What a great bunch of passionate and knowledgeable enthusiasts, and I found them all...

    Challenger Hellcat gets 707HP!

There's a lot of dissatisfaction here. In fact, the happy members in this forum mostly seem to be owners...go figure! I spoke with a tall gentleman this morning at Homecoming who drove his '06 vert there. He had done the Gen V drive at Chelsea Proving Grounds yesterday and commented on how...

    Challenger Hellcat gets 707HP!

Well you can certainly relate to a broad range of buyer needs. I think there's little doubt that the next Gen Viper will have an auto of some sort, and the availability of a manual might be more in question. The Viper faithful are aging and will want or need an auto among other things, as will...

    Challenger Hellcat gets 707HP!

If you are so against a manual then it doesn't sound like you did have an intent to buy a Gen V, or did your research somehow lead you to think it came with an auto? What did you buy instead, or are considering now?

    Since a Stock 2015 Hellcat w/ DR's Just ran 10.85 @126 ph in the 1/4 Mile...

That's a great time, but what's even more impressive is the Gen V runs a 10.8 with computer and exhaust. That's right...an exotic supercar driver's car with old school stick shift appeal that was designed and built to excell on the road course can run a 10.8 on a drag strip! Less appealing...
