Since the fan is driven hydraulically and I would bet you would be hard pressed to measure or feel any difference.
The alternator doesn't draw that much power unless your battery is low, I think you'd want to pump the water that was intended, the PS pump is out of stroke when going straight...
I'd bet its low because that was all that was needed to meet their 500 HP goal. Why would they go higher than necessary - the Viper V-10 is clearly a lightly stressed engine. The low compression ratio also makes it easier to turbo or supercharge compared with engines in the 10.5 or higher...
I totally agree!
I've been out twice with the top down in January (IA had some very unusual weather). There is too much salt on the road to take it out lately. I just love the way the Viper makes me feel. The Viper strikes me as what the Corvette would now be like if Zora Duntov successors...
I wouldn't spring over a $1000 to cover the non-powertrain items on a Viper.
I decided the 7/70 powertrain warranty was the right overall value. I figure I can cover the non powertrain problems that might arise. The ABS is likely the biggest $ risk.
Re: For the love of god, why can\'t I get a test drive??...*MICHIGAN OWNERS*
I would never have bought my Viper unless a dealer let me drive one first.
I went in to a dealer in NH when on vacation. I was having brake problems on my '69 Corvette for the 20th time and told the saleman that I'd...
Sorry to hear you were forced off the road.
It is interesting that some people think that if you have stated value insurance you will GET the stated value. That is NOT true. If the value of the insured car falls below the stated value that is what you would get. Stated value is more relavent...
I would NEVER wish or ask for MORE REGULATIONS from the government. If you want a convertible with a roll bar buy one. I don't want to put any more roadblocks and costs into providing high performance vehicles.
If you think rollbars should be required, someone else might think that over 400...
Engineering plastics could certainly secure a bike well, however I'd bet no manufacturer would tool one up for such a limited market.
If you want to carry a bike, I'd recommend having a bolt on hitch type receiver made up to allow you to mount the carrier and bike behind the car.
You would...
Just for the record, the SRT convertible is as light as a comparable C6 427 convertible if GM made one. If you start with the Z06 add the weight of the steel frame, bigger brakes, and dry sump system you'll find the Corvette about same weight as the Viper.
If DC wants a coupe only Viper they...
I am VERY pleased the current dimensions, relatively short (bacically '63-'82 Corvette) wheelbase and not so wide as to take excessive lane space. Much wider and it would become a pain to drive on fast two lanes.
If I wanted a coupe I would definitely consider a Z06. The level of "extra" electronics would still cause me some concern. For example, I don't need (or want due to reliability issues) an electronic heater control or keyless ignition/starting.
It's not the temperature that bothers me as much as the salt brine. I've seen the gorgeous underside of my Viper and don't want it corroding at all!!
I did like having the top down. Below 40F it's a bit too cool for me!
I was able to use the record and near record temperatures in eastern Iowa to take my Viper out of mothballs today.
My son who is home from college and I set the top back and cruised about 250 miles in the 20+ degrees above normal temperatures. It hit 51 in Dubuque and 53 in Cedar Rapids, two...
Throughout automotive history, in the long run, convertibles have been the dominant winners of the wow and value contest with only a few exceptions (Gull Wing Mercedes, '63 Corvette split window coupe, and Big wing, droop nose Dodge Superbees). Maybe Vipers coupes of various vintages will also...
The rev limiter protects the engine. Hitting it is not dangerous to your engine. It is not something to do continually but bumping it on occation shouldn't hurt anything.
