That's pretty sad.
I wave to all serious sports cars and will wave back to anyone who waves or calls out to me. (I won't initiate a wave to a Miata or MG, but I will wave back!) If I waved only to Vipers, I would never get to wave since they are very, very scarce in Iowa.
The Viper is...
A commercial dyno can not detect or establish a statitically sound 1-2 HP gain. Between run to run engine and dyno variation 10 HP is difficult to detect as well. It would seem to be a questionable mod at best based on the reponses most of those who bought them.
Next time you have your oil changed, ask the tech what the torque spec he used on the oil drain plug AND the oil filter. I'd be surprised if anyone knew the specs or used them on BOTH components.
That's another reason I change my own oil......
I wasn't going to drill my front bumper.
I built an aluminum bracket that clamps to the (black polymer) bumper support and it holds the licence plate completely clear of the bumper. There is nothing that touches any painted surface. I was not satisfied with the off the shelf supports...
I'd say it works fine. There aren't many hills nearby, but it seemed to track speed well - maybe not as perfectly as a factory system in a regular car. I attribute that to the fact they needed to limit how fast it reacts (system gain) since if you set it in 2nd, it might auto light up the...
I finally got the Snake Oyl cruise control system completely installed. It works very well.
It is unfortunate they don't really provide decent instructions. I would have saved days if they had simply said to make a hole in the firewall grommet and they had explained that some of the bodywork...
I called him and he told me that the installation is meant for professionals. He did give me bits and pieces of information in DIRECT response to specific questions. He not very interested in helping clarify his limited instructions.
I guess he didn't think an MIT mechanical engineer with 7...
Update, since several looked at this post.
It turns out the throttle cable does NOT move when the pedal moves, so there is no problem.
I built a special pivot to prevent the cable from having to bind when the throttle goes through its motions. It eliminated the need to drill the pedal plate...
I almost have my cruise installed, but before trying it out a question occurred to me.
Do you adjust the actuator cable to work when the pedals are furthest forward? I set mine in the pedals rearward position and think I need to readjust to the furthest forward. That is where I set them...
I have a couple of questions for anyone who might have put in (or seen) the wireless control Snake Oyl cruise system installed on their SRT-10 Viper.
1. It appears that the firewall grommet (or bellows) must be cut to get the wiring and actuator cable into the interior of the car. Is there...
Did you ever look at a Direct Lift Pro Park 9?
It is much wider over 100" between columns and is much heavier 2300 lbs shipping weight and is rated at 9000 lbs. It is much sturdier than any of the other lifts that can be rolled around on its (included) casters.
This is a very heavy duty lift...
Inner Fender Well Removal - Driver\'s Dash Pad Removal
I started installation of the "dedicated" cruise control on my SRT-10. I NEED the cruise to avoid speeding tickets when traveling the interstates doing 700 to 1100 miles a day.
The second step called to remove the inner fender well. I...
Absolutely nothing.
The SRT-10 convertible is in the absolute top class of speed, braking, and handling, virtually maintenance free, virtually corrosion proof, and can be serviced anywhere in the USA or Canada.
While looks are a matter of taste, the Viper has an EXTREME presence and a gorgeous...
Cost is the driving reason.
To prevent the drive wheels from skidding during normal cornering a differential of some kind is needed. The standard "open" differential is the lowest cost way to accomplish that function. There are several other options that allow varing amouts of torque to go to...
Re: The question that most can\'t answer correctly
I agree. The differentiation is based on BORE SPACING, not bore diameter or stroke. In the Chevy world there were 348 and 396 Big Blocks and 400 Small Blocks (now 427+ small blocks).
The top on my '04 is not perfectly curved but I wouldn't call it any type of defect, simply the way the rigid shell is made and assembled. If it were painted it wouldn't look right, but I see nothing wrong as a support for the cloth top.
I was told that not every '04 came with the 7/70 powertrain warranty. Any dealer can input your serial number to check whether is has it or not. If it is an issue, you should check with a dealer to be certain. If the car is new and the sticker say it has it, I cannot imagine that it wouldn't...
