Y2K5SRT:
I understand your girlfriend analogy, and I think it's very good. While both cars are great, I still think it's too bad that one has to choose between the best looks and the best performance.
It kind of bothers me that the viper is getting taller and narrower with each new model. Being 48.6" is too tall for an exotic sports car. Also it's much less curvaceous.
I'm actually not exactly sure, my mechanical skills aren't all that great.
What I did, is popped the hood and disconnected the wires from the positive.
Andrew: I actually asked the same question to a good buddy of mine with a Z06, who's driven my car a lot, and an SRT-10.
He says that the Gen II seats are actually much more comfortable.
If they wanted the SRT to be a real winner, they would have made all the peformance (engine...
I think your analogy is very good. No matter what's done to it, a Gen III will never look as good as a Gen II. Styling is a big factor for me, and the slight performance difference can be made up, if you choose to do so, with a few bucks.
Yeah. Once or twice before, I accidentally opened the hood with the alarm set, and the horn just started going off and I was able to use the alarm override switch. No such luck on Sunday.
What I did, is I went to my local hardware store and got a 5/8" hex socket wrench, so I can disconnect...
Yes, it does. Unfortunately, they did nothing when I pulled on them. The windows didn't roll down either, all of the electronics were stopped. Thank God for the removable top.
Last night, I went to Applebee’s with a buddy of mine, to see his girlfriend, and I got a nice front row spot to keep an eye on the car. As we were leaving, she seemed really interested in the car, so I was happy to open the hood and show the motor.
What I didn’t remember was that the doors...
Re: total # of SRT10\'s sold in 2004....
I wish they wouldn't sell so many Vipers now. I for one, don't get happy when I see high production numbers. It just makes the car less rare and exclusive. Back in '98, I think they only made about 1200 or so. That is the way it should be.
There are also a lot of people who can afford Gen 3s from the Gen II camp, but choose to keep their Gen II. I'm one of them. There is nothing going on with envy here, if I wanted a Gen III I'd go get one tonight.
I'll admit you're right on most regards. The Gen III is faster, handles...
You can say different car, but not better car. Let's not get delusional here. For the Gen III to be a better car, it would have to look nicer than a Gen II. This is because a huge part for the Viper's appeal is the styling.
Everyone I've talked to acknowledges the Gen II to be the better...
