George has given you probably the best advice on how to pick up the learning curve. I was at Willow Springs one day early in my road racing days kicking my tire say why the f*** won't you go faster. Paul Mumford overheard me and said for me to take a seat as a passenger, what he showed me next...
LOL that's why I joined in 1999, I know it says 2000 but that was just the year they changed the forum format. I was the 134th member to join and there is a wealth of info. Brakes are probably the most important part of our Vipers, you get up to speed so fast you need to slow down just as fast...
Pretty much the same #s I got on my 2000, smoothies, headers, hi-flows and catback I put down 434.4 RWHP & 474.4 RWTQ, on a Dynojet 248C SAE corrected, also had 3.55s & an aluminum flywheel, I don't know if those affect the #s.
.
I think the old EBC red pad I put on my 2000 was the worst pad ever, threw them out the next day after really bad braking distances. Put on Brakeman 3 pads and they work great especially at the race track. Bedding in correctly is important.
And it only took me 12.5 years, I guess I'm not as big a whore as Dave :D But on the Alley I'm closing in on 25K in less then 10 years, I guess I can express myself more freely there :rolaugh:
Yeah there is a downside to drag racing being lighter rotating mass, but that is not a concern of yours. You would really be amazed at how much faster the motor winds up with the light weight flywheel, it is a must for road racing as it makes it much easier to match revs when you down shift...
3.55 gears, aluminum flywheel and of course an MGW short shifter, absolutely great on the track. I was at my local Dodge dealer and goosed it a few times all the techs and regular workers around said "aluminum flywheel" right away it wound up like a sewing machine.
I don't know if I agree with the break loose comment, PS2's give great feed back and you know when you are on the edge before it "snaps", R compounds are a different matter but by the time you use R6s you should be accomplished enough to handle it. I went to TWS one time for the 2002 Viperdays...
I had a great Viper driver (the incomparable PMUM) instruct me in my 2000 it blew my mind what he could do with my Viper with me as a passenger, now I'm an instructor, find one to show you the car's limits even if it is just as a passenger. I remember when I met Redsled the first time at...
I use an open trailer that is dove tailed and has 6' ramps, not lowered and works great. I also bought a hand ratchet winch in case of emergency at the track.
I posed this question when the ACR-X came out, a person who owns both the Comp Coupe and an ACR-X said the ACR-X was about 2 seconds faster on the same track on the same day. He attributed the better lap times to more HP and better tires.
