I believe they are legally required to provide spare parts for 7 years after production. So we are right at the point where they no longer *have* to provide Gen-1 engines (or Gen-1 side sills, for that matter). I know Chrysler had a few Gen-1 engines left last year. They were never advertised...
My experience has been that if the person you're taking isn't completely APE-$h!+ over Vipers, you're better off going alone.
And take lots of $$$$ (for Viper stuff).
The funniest thing I saw at the Woodward Dream Cruise was...
four guys in a Camaro
pulled over
and getting a ticket
from a cop
on a bicycle!
After spending the better part of Saturday at the Dream Cruise with my girlfriend, her son wanted her to take him down Woodward in one of the Vipers. So...

McFadden Friendly Motors of South Haven, Michigan was offering it for sale for $59,900 last Winter. I spoke with Red McFadden (dealership owner) and offered him $55,000 w/o seeing the car. He declined, but mentioned that it...

I vote for "02 Final Edition ACR".

You can only drive so many miles in a year, and when you have 10-12 vehicles those miles get spread...

quote:
Anyway, here is the situation-- With the AC off I can drive all day long at any rpm and the engine temp stays in the range of 190 to 200. As soon as I turn the AC on, the engine temp will remain in the same range as long as I keep...
Before I went to the double-adjustable Penskes, I bought a set of lowering spring caps from Snake Oyl ($300 a set of four, a few years ago). I cranked up the rebound on the shocks while I was at it. The front ended up 3/4" lower and the rear 1" lower. Loved the look and my lap times at...

Jeff, your original post was right on! MSRP on the sticker is the bottom line after Gas Guzzler and Destination. In press releases, they have always listed MSRP as being less the Gas Guzzler and Destination.

quote:
For some reason the Vin# don't add up. The first and the last VIN has 1904 numbers but production was only 1463.

Prowlers were in the same VIN pool.
FinalGTS: that is normal for every Viper.
The idle "hang" (as it occurs on my girlfriend's '96 GTS) is when the idle stays at 1,700 rpm even when sitting at a stop. IM gasket replacement a couple years ago fixed it the first time. Now it just came back (after a dead battery last winter...
Yes. Rebound is adjustable, but you have to remove the springs to do it. Compress the shock all the way until you feel the adjuster engage (you'll know it when you feel it). Twist clockwise all the way (about 2-3/4 turns) to set max rebound in the rear.
Sorry. I thought by commenting on the price I offered for one of the Vipers in your initial post, I *was* commenting on the current price of Vipers. I removed the offending line...

$9.95 at Pep Boys.
I think it's labeled "Jeep" or "Jeep Cherokee" but it looks identical in all ways to the Viper cap. I keep mine safety wired to the hard part of the high pressure line... and yes I keep a spare on the trailer.
