The Skip Shift is not defeatable (without eventually setting a PCM code) on model year 2009-2010 Vipers using the factory PCM.
BTW: I also used a bypass plug set from my last Corvette on my 08 Viper without issue, so they may all be the same part.
The skip shift can be eliminated in model year 2008 Gen IV Vipers via a bypass plug. In the Corvette world it's known as a CAGS eliminator.
Using the bypass plug in MY 2009 & 2010 Vipers will eventally set a diagnostic code unless you are running the Mopar PCM.
Mark and his crew really planned and executed this event well. All the logistics were thought through and everything ran smoothly. Just the safety aspects alone are a challenge for an event like this.
Being a large consumer of ammunition myself, I was in awe as Mark kept pulling out belts of...
There is a good chance that the skip shift eliminators are not all created equal (besides the fact that the form factor is the same). I'm pretty sure that the one I use has a built-in resistor so the PCM still thinks it's plugged into the transmission. No codes for me!
The driving style...
There is some bad information in this thread. Here are the facts:
A plug/socket set that allows you to unplug the harness connecting to the transmission for the lockout solenoid AKA "skip shift eliminator" does work on model year 2008 Vipers. This will not work on 2009-2010 Vipers (it will...
I see some members are going up to No. Conway for the day on Saturday. Is there a schedule of activities for the weekend posted somewhere?
I have no idea if this is a cruize, shopping trip, dinner or all of the above.
My guess is it would run horrible if at all. It would also probably damage your fuel system. Did you mean to say E15? E85 is 85% Alcohol and only 15% Gasoline. Don't do it without the advice of SRT Engineers. What we most commonly get at the pumps today is
E10.
Ok, so here's the list of those meeting up on Saturday in Milford:
John
Shaun
Martin
Steve
Mike
If you have a FRS radio please remember to bring it. Since Martin doesn't like us very much we wont be waiting for him if he is late this year.:nono: So expect to leave at 10:30 sharp.:drive:
Well, I see sunshine is predicted for the weekend (after last year's rain we were a liitle leary to sign up early). We are headed to TatorToga this weekend. We will lead a group through scenic Vermont like we have done the last couple of years. This includes a stop at the top of Hogback...
Ok, I reviewed the driving times and we are looking at two full driving days. The end of day one puts us in Mechanicsburg, PA. and we would get into Concord, SC around 5pm on day two. This doesn't leave any room for error/traffic/construction. It's a little too close for comfort so I am with...
Glenn,
I think we need a new shade of blue for our event shirts. I suggest you mix in some yellow with the blue and that will make a fantastic VOI XII shirt.
Many of our Corvette friend's LS7 engines have eaten their hollow stem valves and were destroyed. What's the risk of this happening on the Gen V engine? I'll assume that the answer is "Low risk" so the natural follow up question is why would the Gen V have a lower risk to this failure than the...
Thank you for letting us pick your brains at the Gen V intro in New York. It was nice to meet you guys in person. My question is:
With all the Federally mandated controls now integrated into the Gen V Viper. What data will be recorded in the air bag deployment "Black Box". Also, what...
Our Viper Club of America has the more access to the engineering team and leadership team than any other car club. They listen to us and answer our questions (often on their own time). I was disappointed to see lots of subject lines and comments that are arguably rude. We should be more...
