Exhaust / Header Question - Broken Bolts - Need some insight

I am sure that you could find them at Lowe's or Ace Hardware. I have bought them at Orchard Supply Hardware, Home Depot and Fastenal. A few years back, I remember a story of poor quality chinese bolts being sold as high grades and they made their way into commercial aviation. Airplanes were...

    Oil pan gasket question!!

What he said! The last time I replace my pan gasket, I lifted it in to position and held one side up with my knee (I was laying under the car) while I put bolts into in each corner to hold it in place. It is a good idea to check the windage tray screws when you have the pan out. Mine were...

Car wont start and brake will not depress

Batteries should be checked under load..... 6. Battery Testing can be done in more than one way. The most accurate method is measurement of specific gravity and battery voltage. To measure specific gravity buy a temperature compensating hydrometer, to measure voltage use a digital D.C...

    Jealous

I let my wife drive my Viper one time...almost had to force her to because she chickened out at the last minute. We got home okay, she drove very mildly and there were no problems. After that one driving experience, she will not touch it, even to move it out of the garage. It truly scares...

    Surprise pose pic at work

She's awful considerate, she didn't lay on your car, she laid down on the ground instead. Seems like she is respectful of your paint and your car..... good for her and maybe for you too! That picture screams, "I want a date" or at the very least, to be considered for your next photoshoot!

Car wont start and brake will not depress

The Humming sound that you hear when you first turn the key on is probably the Fuel Pump pressurizing the system. I would check to make sure the battery is kicking out it prescribed 12.8 volts and check your fuel pump relay. One other thought, most of the newer cars have a Fuel Pump safety...

    Snake-Oyl Chin Guard

I have one too and I glad to have it. I would much rather scrape up an easily replaceable part then slowly grind off part of a very expensive facial. The streets in the Bay Area and especially San Francisco can present a challenge to even the most diligent Viper drivers.

    Rear main seal???

The rear main seal is mounted in a cover plate. The whole assembly runs about $160 without discounts. The seal itself is around $30. I don't remember the exact price. Call Chuck Tator. I just replaced mine and both cover plate gasket and the rear main seal were bad.

    Why would anyone do this?

I am only guessing here, but if I recall correctly, my front O2 sensor is on the header not on the flex connection. So, this looks like an extra sensor, maybe a wideband sensor from the previous owners setup? Only tossing out a guess.

    ***new viper magazine***

Got mine all the way out here on the left coast today. The postal service did a great job of ruining any potential collect-ability value. But it is a great magazine and I also found Ralph's message encouraging/frustrating. i want to see the car already.....

    Rear main seal???

Not sure what year you have but it is very common for the seal plate gasket to crack and fail on the Gen 2 Motor. I have the gasket for a Gen 1 due to a parts counter mix up and a extra rear main seal for a GEN 2. If you do a search you will find several references for changing out the rear...

    Gear Burn In

The instructions that I got were, the gear set needs to initially see 3 heat cycles of 20 minutes of driving and then a complete cool down. Not to exceed 55MPH for the first 100 miles and not to exceed 65mph for the next 400 miles. Thankfully, I am now 1000 plus into my break in cycle. By...

Water leaking into the rear hatch area

Wow, sorry to hear that Curtis. Just guessing, but I would check that the drain holes are clear and the weather seal is not cracked or broken. That is about the only way I think that water could get in other then the cabin vents have failed or one of hinges has come undone and causes that side...

Bay Area (San Jose, Santa Clara, Los Gatos) Owners: RT/10 or GTS

If you can wait until June 7th, you can come by Nor Cal VCA Club Meeting at the Biltmore ( San Thomas Expressway and Highway 101). There will be anywhere from 20 to 30 Vipers there and you can meet their owners. You also do a search for people inputs of the pro's and con's of each. This has...

San Francisco Bay Area CA Viper owners: Where do you get your snake serviced?

What John said! There are some club members that take their cars to DC Performance. They are in SoCal. Normandin does give a discount to VCA Members. IIRC, 15% on service and 20% on parts.

Rear end whine in tight turns

Most likely the whine is coming from your Limited Slip clutch pack in the diff. Change the fluid and don't forget the friction modifier. If the whine goes away, it was old fluid. If the whine doesn't go away, a clutch pack and diff rebuild are in you future. The fluid has to be changed much...
