Interesting observation Chris, but keep in mind that the Comp Coupe is a purpose-built race car, is probably close to 10% lighter than a full roll cage equipped ACR and may also be better in the aerodynamics department.
All of this being said, I believe that it will be really, really close...
Words of wisdom indeed, Frank:2tu:
Totally agree with you and actually wonder why this is not a factory supplied OEM item or a factory option at the very least.
Regardless, I will get an ACR but the first mod will be a full roll cage, before any track time.
To me the ACR is a "Comp Coupe...
For the longest of time (way before I bought my Viper) I have called the Vette:
"The Official Symbol Of The Mid-Life Crisis".
And I love your descrition of your boss.
Yes, he totally looks the part. I can see him proudly wearing his "Corvette, the American Dream" baseball cap!
And since...
Nice to see Maurice in the magazine!
There is also a letter to the editor sent by one of our SoCal VCA Member published on page 18 of the same magazine, where he eloquently takes them to task for their lame Vette-Viper comparison test in the previous issue.
John F. suggests that they change...
As a former automotive engineer who always did most of my own maintenance, it was very difficult for me to let go of this part of the "hobby" but I do no longer have the required amount of spare time to deal with my own cars' maintenance and tuning issues.
I have let Dan prep my car for Viper...
Good One! :2tu:
:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:
Don't give them ideas like these Vipermann, or Hyundai will believe, coming from you, that now they will have to beat the Nissan GT-R on price and power.....
Phil :D
There was thread earlier this year about leather jackets.
Maybe now we can drum up some interest again:
http://forums.viperclub.org/merchandise-collectibles-memorabilia-apparel-miniatures/597993-viper-leather-jacket.html...
This is a great hood if your SRT-10 is supercharged or twin-turbocharged.
Much better heat dissipation and possibly better aerodynamic charateristics due to 'assisted air flow".
Certainly was a great price.
Kala, glad you are so happy with your 08 hood!
Can you feel a sizeable drop in...
Wojo,
There was a thread a while ago about this subject:
http://forums.viperclub.org/rt-10-gts-discussions/607315-front-tires.html
Hope this helps!
Phil
Sorry about that !
You are right, the ones I like are 542's but it was a while since I looked at them and mistakenly remembered them as 547's.
547's look great but CCW has a very similar (one piece, much easier to clean) wheel at a much better price, model #505.
Hope this helps.
Phil
I am quite partial to the 547's myself.
I remember one SRT-10, owned by "ZDigital1" who has these rims on his car.
His car has a lot of upgrades and the 547's really make the car look even better.
His car is silver with very subtle accents and stripes, not yellow though.
Here is the link...
Tracked every chance I get! :drive: :2tu:
Blessed to live in SoCal, where we have many great tracks and events, year round!
Blessed also to have a "Primo Track Rat" as our local VCA chapter President!
As oppose to a CC, I would also be able to drive it to the track.
I call this...
Maybe the Gallardo Superleggera might fit the bill as a bonafide track car, but since I have to agree with both of you on the "Poseur" argument, chances of seeing it on the track are probably slim to none and "Slim" is probably tracking his other car, the Viper at the moment......
In the...
Just priced mine @ $113,090.00
Sticker shock?
No!
Besides, if the next power level Vette will come in around 100k, i do not mind the ACR costing a bit more.
Porsche 911 GT3 RS: $123,200.00 Base; 143,995.00 as tested by Road & Track, a few months ago...
Couldn't agree more, Chuck:2tu:
A race between an 08 ACR, 911 RS (or RSR) and Ferrari Scuderia would certainly be very interesting.
Lambos are too big and heavy for the track although they make some great road machines.
This being said, of all the cars I owned over the years, the Miura is...
Not really impressed with this Lambo at all.
The wheels match the design language of the car.
Overall, looks way too "car-toonish" for my taste.
I would trade it for 14 2008 ACR's and invite all my Viper track rat friends to "private track events".
Phil
Wow Jeff,
Congratulations!
This is the way the body gaps should look! :2tu:
Much cleaner this way.
How many hours do you estimate it will take a competent person to do the Street Serpent conversion and get the project ready for paint?
Phil
Hi Drew,
Great to hear from you.
Where in Germany do you reside?
Glad to hear that you are a member of the Swiss VCA chapter, very cool!
Phil :swiss: :usa2:
The rear wing is adjustable.
Maybe it was set at a fairly aggressive angle for show purposes.
I will be going to the LA car show tomorrow and will give you my opinion after taking a good look at it.
Phil
This is exactly how I feel about mine too!
Barely driving it anymore on the street.
So I am selling my 2005 SRT-10 to make room for the 2008 ACR.....
Phil
This is the one I was waiting for.
Glad I did not order the 2008 yet, although the "Snake Skin Green" is just out of this world, IMO.
Maybe there is more than just hope from Cerberus; look to me like these guys are serious about us and our unquenchable thirst for brutal performance...
Now this is the way real carbon fiber is supposed to look! :2tu:
Hissnake, thanks for posting the pictures.
Congratulations to "Impuls" for a job well done and to Rob for a beautiful installation.
Phil
Although I have posted many times on this thread, mostly for the benefit of technical elucidation, I never expressed my personal view about the initial question asked:
If A Paddle Shifting Transmission Was Available In 2009, Anyone Buying One?
Assuming we will be lucky enough to see a 2009...
....Ah, the finer points of technology!
Yes the 2008 has a "twin disc clutch" which reduces rotational mass and make for lighter clutch operation and engagement.
The "twin clutch gearbox" is a different proposition altogether.
Think of it of two gearboxes in one housing, where one "box"...
True automatics have torque converters.
Assisted clutch and electro hydraulic actuator activated transmissions are often referred to as semi-automatics, but most of them really are regular non-automatic transmission of one type or another, to which you can give an up or down shifting input...
