Monday we find out who is faster at Laguna Seca, ZR1 or Gen V

Well I guess I'm late to the party, but in this case it's probably a good thing. The MT article in many ways is just another in a long line of articles written by an amateurish magazine by an amateur automotive journalist. Other than the track/performance tests the article reveals nothing. The...

Monday we find out who is faster at Laguna Seca, ZR1 or Gen V

I'm not sure the Viper doesn't have the better gear ratios. Doesn't the 2013 ZR1 have less desirable gear ratios as compared to the 2012? That's what's being said over on the vette forum.

Monday we find out who is faster at Laguna Seca, ZR1 or Gen V

From Skank on the corvette forum: " ZR1 had their PDE package (same as Nordschleife run) and the Viper had Pirelli R rubber. I think it was 60 or 80 tread wear rating. The Viper tires were treaded though. Interesting comments from Randy Pobst about the handling dynamics of the new Viper. Of...

Monday we find out who is faster at Laguna Seca, ZR1 or Gen V

I think the biggest difference has to do with the driver, Jim Mero. He shaved off 5 seconds from the previous "best" time recorded by a ZR1 at VRI and in the process beat the ACR. He also eclipsed the previous time registered for a ZR1 at the Nurburgring. In order to come up with all the right...

Monday we find out who is faster at Laguna Seca, ZR1 or Gen V

No need to be skeptical, it's been documented how the Michelin Pilot Cup Sports transformed all the Z cars. Remember, the previous tire of choice for the Z06 was a Good Year run flat tire and with the mpcs it is just about as fast as the ZR1 on some road courses and faster on others.

Could it be the customization option we've been hearing about from SRT: customizing the car unique to the customer's needs.

Monday we find out who is faster at Laguna Seca, ZR1 or Gen V

It should be close and we'll see how much of an advantage, if any, the carbon ceramic brakes will afford the ZR1.

You have all weekend to argue amongst yourselves, as we’ll be revealing the record-setting car as well as a full comparison test this Monday, December 17. Happy guessing! Looks like we'll have more hard numbers to argue about. :drive: Read more...

    1st track test

I guess the others have magazines to sell and they'll wait until the issue featuring the Viper is printed and released. It should be a big seller.

    1st track test

That was a pretty soft launch. The difference between a soft and hard launch is worth about .3 to .5 seconds.

for those who drove the gen 5

I believe the reviewer said 0-10 with the Toyota Yaris representing a 0 and an ALMS race car representing a 10. The GTS with the softer setting would rate a 7, while the race setting would rate a 9. The SRT by contrast would would rate an 8.

Gen 5 Positive Reviews and Sales

-The reviews comfirmed my feelings that this was going to be an awesome car. -This is the first Viper I've wanted to own and quite frankly I just never see them on the road. So it's difficult to want something you never see. -Obviously I haven't seen any 2013's on the road, other than my...
