What should us non-Texas owners do? Not drive at night and wait for a recall notice or some other indication that a solution is available or should we drive at night and risk that the first time the lights go out will be the last. I don't think I would take that risk if I owned the company...
So Bigbad who's gravy train are you on? 22 years old, miltary reserves and $200 k in cars. And less than 2 weeks on this board and 44 very recent posts. Hmmm.
Jeff thrilled the Rendezvous crowd and ended up taking home the "modified GTS" award. Sounded great. Sounds like great power as well. Congrats.
Now how about those Gen I and III kits!!!
I will hazard a guess. Yes it is transferable and no verification will be provided. However, I will dyno mine before and after (if I go through with it). I will have clear evidence to the performance level of the product I paid for.
As a part of the dyno test I will have the emissions checked...
Joe - Thanks for your efforts.
However, the statements above sound more like a political maneuver than anything else. The message is: NO Change to the current plan.
Did PVO state which dealers have specific experience or training in cylinder head removal on SRT's?
PVO has nothing beyond...
gtsviper. I understand much of what you say, and without trying to be argumentative, I don't agree that your SRT is worse off, or even impacted by the change. I say that because yours was repaired using production built cylinder heads within a DC repair facility. Really no different than any car...
Hey just did it. Thanks. I am surprised at the limited information. My Vipers are both 1 owner (I just don't sell things very well). They only have as-delivered mileage etc.
Agreed Fred. I believe they also have a chassis dyno (a real one and not a velocity dyno) and could provide a performance chart with every repair. That would be confirmation and a nice gesture.
Not likely. Buy back is in my mind a last ditch effort. Not a preferrable solution, but one that would prevent a real loss on our parts. We need to create a win - win scenario. Any scenario with a loss on the owner's side should be considered unacceptable.
That would leave all the responsibility with the owner to find a place capable of doing the repair. That is all well and good if you live near a Viper tuner. What about those of us that do not. I would prefer DC to determine acceptable locations and do the planning.
Also, as a side note that...
Agree Fred. In reading concerns noted from all regions, there is one common theme. That is that they do not have a dealer where they feel assured that this repair would be done correctly without ensuing some other damage. That is the central concern noted by most. Only a few dealers in the US...
Fred, many in other areas are in the same boat. Even in the shadow of DC headquarters in Auburn Hills (10 miles from my house). There is NO dealer within an hours drive that I would take my car to for this repair. I have no idea where one does exist. But I am only 1/2 hour away from where the...
JonB.
First I want to apologize if any of my comments were taken as potshots. They were not intended to be as such.
The primary point that I was trying to make is that the valves were not replaced individually, but as cylinder head assemblies. It may seem nearly the same. However, to one who...
viperz, Do I take it you would value an intake valve affected SRT less than a non-affected one?
If so how much would it impact the value from your perspective?
Would the answer be the same if service was pending or already performed?
I am going to speak from an owner that IS affected perspective.
All of the non-valve issue owners should be let the people that are affected voice their thoughts and opinions. Yes the perspective matters. I never said one thing about the frame, steering rack and other issues as I was not...
Yep, noticed this too. And frequently those same assertions that all is well are proven to be less than truthful. I understand the need for good relations with the DC representatives. However, it should not include pulling the wool over our eyes.
Quotes from Joe Houss:

Yep that gives me a warm and fuzzy about having that same mechanic do my engine work.
I like the idea stated earlier (thanks Jerry) about a centralized repair facilities with people trained and capable of doing the job right. And with a chassis dyno and other test equipment to verify that the...
This would seem to indemnify DC from responsibility that results from the intake valve issue. Not sure how to interpret it legally. But I question the need for a signed affidavit for service work. I have never had to sign something like this for any other warranty/recall work.
The point about a...
"The firing order has changed in the new engine and I am sure everyone will like the sound."
Are you sure the firing order is different. My info shows 1-10-9-4-3-6-5-8-7-2 which is the same as today I believe.
Okay, I now have both the red and black ERTL models (2 red ones so I can play while at work) and have pre-ordered the red, black and silver Maisto and black Mattel. Have I missed any?
