X2. Nelson is a very respected shop. I would do what plumcrazy said and contact them and tell them what that mechanic said. Was the engine purpose built (like lowered compression for boost maybe?)? Also if a modded engine is untuned or has a $hitty tune, that will rob a lot of HP as well.- 99VPRGTS

If cash wasn't the problem, would you give up your GTS/RT for a SRT-10?
One word of advice...be patient! If you want a B/W GTS, be patient and you will find one within or close to your budget. I still look at ebay, autotrader, here, the alley, and other places just to see whats out there for sale. There have been a few B/W's pop up for really reasonable pricing...- 99VPRGTS

Opportunity to trade my 05 vette for a 97 gts or a 98 rt/10
That is a good point. I would take the trade for the RT/10 mainly becuase right now it's probably worth about 5K more than your Vette. The GTS would be my option if it was straight up lol. I know what you are saying. :) I went to a dyno day not to long ago at a guys shop that has a brand new Dyno Dynamics. He tunes all sorts of cars on there to include a few boosted and h/c/i C6ZO6's. They are all spun in 4th gear and I'm pretty sure that 4th in a Zo6 tops out the same if not...- 99VPRGTS

I don't have an answer to that. But I can tell you that I have been to some of the top shops in the country (Lingenfelter, Livernois, DynoTek, which tunes the NASCAR guys when they are in town) and they all pull in the gear with the closest ratio to 1:1. It has nothing to do with any of that. It's about gear ratio's, thats it. The 1:1 gear will give the most accurate reading on a dyno. I have no idea what you mean by comfortable tire speed on a dyno. My Gen II has the exact same tire height that a Gen III/IV has and many other Vipers do...- 99VPRGTS

At the track, grip is a lot easier to come by because of the track prep and the fact that it is concrete and mostly straight. I agree, but don't forget that the LP's AWD is 60/40...and that car will pull all the way up to 215 :D But yes a ROE powered Viper would give any of them a bad day :D Unless you come across UGR's LP640!!- 99VPRGTS
