Yep, thanks guys, got it all fixed. Had to go back into it today because it seems everytime I autocross I get a little more tension in the popper cable. That inevitably ends up keeping the interior light on and killing the battery. So I went in a loosened it up again today.
Works like a...
I'd had forgotten about the "whistle" since I did my smooth tubes on the Viper so long ago. But I just did the same thing on my Durango this last week and thought "Oh yeah, that's the whine I was looking for!" It happens on a Durango too when you take all the intake crap off and slap a K&N...
Let me restate, if you drop the clutch at 4000 rpm on any surface and get a shifter going crazy, you have a problem and it ain't you! Wheel hop doesn't happen when you launch really hard and your tires spin easily. You must have something wrong.
Fly my a$$ down there and I'll launch your car...
I run quite rich before spray and have propane as a secondary fuel with the spray so I go for the biggest psi I can feel comfortable with. Do I understand you to say that 1200 psi isn't going to get as much power as 1000-1067? I set for very rich and ran 1350 psi today. Feels like a JATO...
3.55 would be perfect for you. I have 3.55's on a stock tire setup and it is a shade to high. Somewhere between the stock 3.07 and 3.55 would be perfect which is where you'll bewith your set up.
Looks like we think alike. I decided I would probably forget it on if I only had a manual switch so I tossed the old thermostats and bought a set of higher temp ones. In fact I have a few so I can choose what temp to have the bottle at. That is, for drag racing or dyno days I can put in a...
Finally someone with Nitrous experience talking! The Vette can beat you if he knows how to use his gas. It took me quite a while of experimenting with different thermostats to get the bottle pressure where I get tons of torque/HP while being reasonably safe. Then it took me a lot longer to...
If you are talking about wheel hop that is generally from too low an rpm not too high. And certainly not from dropping the clutch too fast. If you want less spin, let it out slower (this is all common sense of course) but if you want to roast the tires you just let it out as fast as possible...
Just a thought, but it could be a head gasket issue too. A free spinning water pump would have those symptoms but so would a gasket leak that would heat up the coolant when you are on the throttle. Have you checked for that? I know head gaskets were a Gen I issue but its possible on your car too.
Re: Cold Air Viper intakes-Its a no win
Sorry, all I was saying is that a general comment on cone filters under the hood isn't valid and that one can make mods to get cool air under the hood. I have no experience with a Gen II under hood situation and I believe your product will definitely...
Re: Cold Air Viper intakes-Its a no win
I just put one of those K&N cone filters under the hood on my Durango and pulled out the front rubber deflector in front of it. It definitely made a difference. The rubber deflector removal allowed cool air under the hood and the K&N filter...
My two cents (in Canadian dollars) is you are bang on Gary. I agree what you described above is one power adder. Simply put, Nitrous is one, a blower is one, Nitrous plus Blower is two. I think it gets a little more complicated when you start talking about built motor mods but I think you...
Best upgrade I've done is the door poppers, thanks to Don!
One word of caution though, I just had the dreaded "manual lock, auto door open" problem happen. Search for posts on help I can't get my door open. It seems that if the planets are aligned wrong and you manually lock the door and then...
Re: Cold Air Viper intakes-Its a no win
A while ago I did a similar test. Stuck a probe through my smooth tubes where they joined the throttle body. I know that isn't testing the manifold temp but it is the next closest thing. I don't have the exact data but basically at normal highway...
I've been looking for a post Jon where I could bug you about the "curt" responses but now you've gone and beat me to it!! Give me a call sometime so I can put you on hold! Just kidding, I'm on your side! Of course, I'm pretty blunt myself.
Get bullet cats, free flow exhaust from Jon and...
You really want to change the best feature of a Gen I or III (side exhaust)? Why not just get Jon to get you the sound you want while retaining the side exhaust. I bought my Jon B "prototype system" a few years ago and everyone always says my car sounds a lot meaner and throatier than their...
Sorry, but I've got to say my Durango is the most gutless piece of @#$%$# I've driven with a 5.9L (360 ci) engine. With that size of engine it should do better. So I've had enough, I am changing the intake and putting on freeflow exhaust to see what that does. Anyone done that or any other...
Re: Help, can\'t open my door!
Thanks for the help guys, the write up in the link is great, hope it works. Unfortunately I don't have an emergency latch...so just call me Luke Duke for the next few days!
