Hello Earl,
Car used to have 3.45 gears and a speedo box. I remember jumpers from speedobox into PCM, but not any splices - but then I did not do either the install or removal.
Did notice once when THOROUGHLY cleaning engine bay I must have gotten some water / cleaner someplace it shouldn't...
I'm not home enough to get to many of the events, but there are 4 or 5 cars that go to every event. Contact Deb and Tony Russo - they do a good job of keeping the web calendar up to date (co.viperclub.org).
There is a shop in Lakewood CO, Lawson's Paint & Body, 303 277 1242. They've done several complete restorations for me, they repainted my silver side sills a couple times on my previous car, they are painting stripes on my current 2001 GTS and have experience with a couple other Vipers...
I did rollers before putting on my Roe SC on my previous GTS. For a street car, a complete waste of money in my opinion. Cool to have, but performance "gain" was negligible.
No argument they are more "precise" and maybe the engine revs a little bit better (but that's a BIG maybe).
I've been...
Anyone want an Autoform vented, light weight hood for their track car? Ad in the VCA classifieds, with picture. More pictures available on request.
I have my new hood being painted and the car striped, so let's just say I'm a motivated seller... Located in CO.
If interested, please e-mail...
Looks awesome, but it is louder - I ran both stock cats and mufflers on each side. Tried high flow cats too. Ran a bit cooler, but louder. Finally, after 4 years I converted back.
No issues heating rear tires.
No appreciable change in side sill or cabin temperatures either - at least...
I found a 2002 post which mentioned the stripe width, but I've found nothing online or in my service manual about stripe placement. Anyone know where I might find info to properly locate the stripes I'm going to have painted on my 2001 GTS? Dimensions like so many mm from body line or off...
I'm looking for a stock Gen II hood and all the mounting hardware. These folks (www.x2builders.com) seem to have what I need and at a very attractive price.
Anyone have any experience buying cars or parts from them?
Thanks,
Joe
Gary delivered my new GTS just before Thanksgiving. Delivered ontime exactly as promised. Not a nick or scratch. Excellent service and kept me in the loop the whole time - especially important to me as I was out of town.
Highly recommended!
Hey Dave!
No, no stripes on this one (yet...), but it does sport a Roe SC with 8psi pulley.
I bought the car from a fellow back in New York. Should be in Denver late next week. I expect to be back Saturday!
Thanks! There's lots of great cars to choose from out there right now and - for me - nothing beats the Gen II!
And looks like I'll need to get my picture updated, the new car is a 2001 Saphire Blue GTS.
I just bought a replacement Viper for the GTS I sold earlier this year.
The one thing I'm not wild about is the Autoform 4-pin lift-off hood. Hood is fine, I just prefer a stock hood so I don't need a friend to check the oil!
Hood is light weight and has center vents. Anyone interested in...
What the heck... Here is a picture of the 96-99 windage try modifications I'd recommend, viewed from the bottom of the windage tray (front of engine is to the right in the photo).
In place of the slots, one could drill two 3/4" holes where the arrows are marked.
Also note the wavy...
If I didn't know any better, I'd swear that was a picture of one of our early kits!
Our latest work includes a better top plate, but it's your call, Eric.
A definite yes on the windage tray (or modifications to yours).
I had the Roe side sill exhaust blanket on my SC car with stock cats (required to pass CO emissions testing). They did a pretty fair job insulating and reducing (but not eliminating) side sill and cabin temperatures. I used them in addition to the factory shield, so it was a pretty tight fit...
