The Gen IV's that were turning those fast quarters were all convertables, which are lighter than the Gen IV coupe. What are the fastest verified times for a Gen IV coupe?
In regards to the axle ratio and HP bump, the first gear ratio was made taller to compensate; the gen V still gets to 62 in...
Percieved or not, SRT is a brand and is responsable for its own financial success or failure. Hence why Charger, Challenger, 300, and GC prices from SRT have increased dramatically... lower sales volume, but higher margins per vehicle. According to Ralph Gilles, CAFE has something to do with...
If lazy, price-gouging, dealers quit ordering Vipers... then Vipers will be easier to obtain by those dealers who are doing work. If the dealers REALLY wanted to sell the cars, they'd take a page out of Woodhouse', Tomball's, etc. books and support the VCA, VCA, etc.
IIRC the Gen IV ACR had a 7:1 DF:Drag ratio, which is better than many, many race cars. Also, the wing was there primarily to balance the enormous amount of DF created by the front splitter and canards.
What made the TA so remarkable around Laguna were its revised suspension geometry (more...
The only ones who have said the Viper is struggling are the media outlets, who are using the plant shutdown to get hits on their websites, and views on their Youtube accounts. SRT has orders for new Vipers, they don't want to build any more until some of the incompetent dealers get some of them...
Viper Scat Pack?
could be installed pre-dealership for those who order custom cars from the factory
could be available in stages
but would have to retain factory warranty somehow.
Do you seriously think that racing in LeMans will expose a significant number of people to the Gen V? LeMans may be the biggest GT race in the world, but not very many people are into the series (relatively). I would rather SRT focus their efforts in the ALMS series, where they have a better...
the Viper is the Ernest Hemmingway of American supercars:
Rugged masculine looks,
No-nonsense performance,
Reported dead, when it is in fact still alive.
The Corvette is more F. Scott Fitzgerald
Typically when CAAP shuts down or slows production, the workers are assimilated back into the general population, as they are the most-skilled workers FCA has. I doubt they will be layed off, but even if they are... that's what unemployment insurance is for.
How bad could you beat it up just tracking it? That's why it was built! Honestly, drag racing would probably be the only thing i'd be concerned about, especially the clutch.
That particular car has generated so much confusion... the Stryker Green and the GT package go together sure. but the prototype aero parts on the same car sends a mixed signal to potential customers i feel.
Well it looks like the 911's early pit strategy worked out for it in the end... still can't complain too much about a second place finish. My condolences to the GT3-R team. such a tragedy that the flames took a good soldier...
And remember, The Gen 3/IV was designed as a vert primarily, and the Gen V chassis is a stiffened Gen IV chassis so the rigidity is already there for a Vert.
