Try leaving a window down or opening a door when you close the hatch:{), also there should be an emergancy latch for the doors in case of power failure, iirc the previous gens had them.
Another disadvantage the Viper has, compared to a lot of exotics, is its near 50/50 weight distrobution... It's not going to have the same 0-60 time as a car with similar power to weight, but 60% of its mass sitting over the rear wheels... that's one reason mclarens etc are able to put down such...
Another thing to consider when comparing runs is the transmission temp of each car... if the car isn't up to proper operating temps, there will be some excess power being scavenged from the driveline.
Because the Hellcat engine is supposed to be the be all, end all SC big block V8. Wish they could keep hellcat as a marketing name and not just an internal moniker....
From What I can gather from Allpar and WI SRTs, chrysler's big engine lineup will look like this:
5.7L:400 HP
6.4L:500HP
6.2L(Hellcat):650 to 700HP
As far as the Viper engine, WISRTs member craigd says,"High notes V-10 is working on their upgrades..."
No word on what kinds of upgrades it...
They may use the same shocks, but you can't just compare them based on what one car feels like with them. The shocks are tuned for the different vehicles... a test drive would be the only way to find out for sure.
Just because they ordered all of their cars with upgraded interiors, etc. doesn't mean everybody is. Look at Woodhouse and Tomball, etc. The average MSRP of the cars they're selling is not 150k, I can tell you that for sure.
So where are all of these 150k Vipers you're talking about in EVERY SINGLE THREAD YOU'RE IN? From what I've seen the average price for a 2013 Viper is about 115-120k...
But who are "they?" I know it's been a long time since you all have placed orders and such, but I'm just wondering if actual SRT staff told you this, or if this was just hearsay on the forums. Perhaps SRT would rather send VCA members the best Vipers instead of the first. BTW, if SRT needs a...
When I see a nice Porsche, I glance at it, for sure, but when I see a Viper of any gen, I STARE until It goes out of sight or I begin veering into other lanes of traffic.
I don't see how SRT can possibly tell which cars were ordered by VCA members and which weren't. they could be trying to spread the cars out geographically too... getting them out there for the public to see.
While i know this car is a 1-off, It would be awesome to at least offer that paint option for customer cars... never seen a more beautiful white paint.
Here's a link to the NHTSA safety standards... only thing i can find about width is vehicles over 80 inches wide need special marker lighting(std 108)... so i'd say 80 in is the widest we'll see any performance vehicles.. the Viper could grow a total of 3.6 inches wider and not need them...
If you want serious aero, wait until the ACR/GTS-R comes out (hopefully for 2015 MY). 99.9% positive it will be a more efficient and effective setup than ANY aftermarket aero kit.
